We were in Muai last August (97) and loved the entire week. We stayed at Napeli Shores, managed or owned by Outrigger. We had a one bedroom with ocean view. It was great place - two swim. pools - small grocery store - laundry - etc. We shopped at the Safeway store and ultilized the kitchen in the condo, . We ate fresh fish every night with a good bottle of wine, fresh maui onions in a rice. - cost - about $15.00 . could not do that in a restaurant.
Napeli Shores had a lot of families there.
Get Snokling gear and snorkel arounfd the island. GO TO HANA - the road is not that bad. We left early - picked up a picnic lunch and had a wonderful time. We crossed all 51 bridges and lived to tell about it. Snorkel in Hana Bay - buy a small bottle of Hana Bay Rum (made In L.A.)
GO to the Pineapple Plantation - get two free pineapples - if you go on the tour- pineapples there are the best- won't taste like the ones on the main land.
Any more questions email us -
Best of luck- Oslo

i go to Maui each year. don't have kiddies in tow, but you will find alot of thigs to do. You may want to avoid the busy restaurants at the height of dinner time and go to early bird specials. Cheaper and less people. Lots of restaurants offer the early bird specials. There are good beach parks in Kihei area. There are 3 parks on the water , called Kamaole parks 1,2,3 that have grassy areas, picnic facilities, playground equipment, bathrooms, great beaches, and shade. Nice when you have little ones. Lahaina is a fun town but jostling the crowds at early evening hours could be a hassle with child in tow. Sidewalks are crowded but what the heck.
Lots of good and restaurants at all prices. Everyone has to experience Lahaina. Have a nice trip.

Aloha!

Check out the Maui Kaanapali Villas in the condominium section right on a beautiful stretch of beach at the end of the Kaanapali walking trail. Very private, intimate, and most of all reasonable. In a great location nearby to Lahaina and the Kaanapali luxury hotels. They also include a full kitchen with supplies, so load up on fresh pineapple, sashimi, sweet bread, and other munchies to stretch costs.

Dine at the Hard Rock Cafe to entertain your 2 yr old. Lahaina is a great town to stroll through with your child. Lots of sights, shops, views, and great restaurants. For a night out, dine at my favorite artsy open air restaurant, Avalon. Very colorful, eclectic, and excellent dining creations.

Also, the Hula grill in Whaler's village or Kimo's right on the ocean offer a family style environment and fresh hawaiian fish.
