Maui - Mariott Ocean Club vs. Weston Ocean Resort Villas??
We are lucky to be going back to Maui in a few weeks.
I have reservations at both the Mariott Ocean Club - Lahina and Napili Villas (the new buildings) and the Westin Kannapali Ocean Resort Villas.
The price is about the same, Mariott is ocean view, Westin is Island view but w/free breakast.
We have 2 boys who love water slides (I know Mariott has one, Westin's looks a bit bigger).
We stayed at the Mariott 2 years ago, so I know that resort and area very well. I've not been to the Westin and understand it is on the other side of Black Rock.
Can anyone help me decide???
Many thanks!

We really enjoy the Westin Villas..for your 2 boys with the great water slide pool is the best choice..free breakfast is so key too.
You can walk to Hula Grill other restaurants in about 10 minutes on the boardwalk..beaches, imo are better south in Wailea.
Aloha and have a great time..we'll be there next month!

Are you talking about the Marriott time share property in Kanapalli?
And kuscat, how can you walk to Hula Grill from the Westin Villas? Aren't they on the other side of Black Rock?
If my orintation is correct, I would go with Ocean view at the Marriott and be on the side that is near the Hyatt, Westin Hotel and the Whalers Village. The Hula grill is in the Whaler's Village.
Look at the map. Google it or something. There is a side walk that runs from Black Rock at the Sheraton all the way to the Hyatt. It's nice to be in that stretch.
Have fun, you will love Maui!

I always get the Hyatt and the Westin mixed up..stayed at both too many times..
Isn't the Westin next to the Marriott..or is that the Hyatt?
I know the Sheraton is right at black rock.
Damn..they all seem the same to me unless I'm at the Grand Wailea or Kapalua.
I'll take your word on it..I stay at the one usually next to the Marriott and we walk to Whaler's Village to Hula and Leilani's.

ksucat, there is a Westin right next to Whaler's Village, but that's not the Westin the OP is asking about -- she's asking about the Westin Villas, which is a timeshare resort north of Black Rock, and therefore, not walkable to Hula Grill!
To the OP, there's no question which one I would choose, the Marriott hands down, but that's becuase I DON'T want to be north of Black Rock. Others would prefer being north of Black Rock, of course, so only you can decide that. I like the activity of the "main" part of Kaanapali Beach, especially at night.

Thanks all - the Mariott is the timeshare property next to the Hyatt on the strip with the Whalers Village.
The Westin is not the hotel next to Whalers Village - it is the timeshare property on the other side of Black Rock.
In pictures the Westin looks older... can't tell for sure...

We stayed at the Westin Hotel in January, which is next to Whaler's Village. The Marriott was further down, closer to the Hyatt (which is at the end, the Sheraton being at the other end).
The Westin Villas are pretty new, and north of Black rock and NOT near the action.
I would take the Marriott too, hands down.
