I am looking to travel to Maui in march. I have the following requirements:
1. Family place.
2. Beach property, charming
3. Travelling with kids under 7
4. Condominium
So far I am considering the Whaler, The Maui Eldorado, Outrigger Wailea, Any recommendations?

I highly recommend the Napili Sunset. They are on a lovely stretch of beach. In another post, those of us who recommended this condo were accused of having a "connection" with this place. This is not the case, as the others also stated. It's just a great place. website: www. napili sunset.com

I would strongly suggest looking into the Kannapali Alii, although some consider it a little bit expensive, we felt it was worth it. It's a lovely condo property on the beach, close to The Whalers Village shopping area, but not adjacent. I think the Alii is located in between the Westin on one side and the Mariott on the other, a prime location. It's beach front, with a wide stretch of beach, a large pool and pool area, a large jacuzzi, and a nice baby wading pool and some lawn area for the kids to run around on. Also, has an adjacent patio area with shaded tables and chairs with BBQs for use by the guests, and meal charging privileges at some of the other properties on Kannapali plus when we were there a few years ago, pool service phones to order food brought to you from the Marriott next door. We had a very nice two-bedroom, 2 bath unit overlooking the tennis courts. Since the units are privately owned, each will be furnished differently so something like that is out of anyone's control to recommend or not if yours will be a luxury unit or more simply furnished, but I beleive they do have standards the homeowners have to meet to qualify for rental property. A hint to save some costs: daily maid service is usually automatically included at the majority of the condo units in Hawaii, if you don't mind picking up your own towels and making your own beds, ask if you can select a "every 2nd day" or "every 3rd day" maid service package instead. For pictures and more info: www.royalhawaii.com. If you want to look into something less expensive, and outside of Kannapali, we've also stayed at the Sands of Kahana in Kahana, which is up the coast about 10 mintues. A nice condo property with a restuarant and the use of BBQs, a smaller, rockier beach but more private than Kannapali's beacch, pool area, and some of the units had 3-bedrooms. Aloha!

My sister and I with our childres stayed at the Embassy Suites in Kaanapali. Great condo's w/breakfast each morning. (eggs, bacon, ham, pancakes, cereal and etc) They also have a super pool w/an awesome beach!! (we once stayed in Kahana and even though it's only 2 miles away ... totally different rough beach) Minature golf for kids and even a kids program. Close to Lahaina for any shopping, eating or whatever. Going back in 2005. Good luck You can check it out at embassysuites.com

On Maui... North is Kapalua special vistas, terraced condos(best snorkle areas). South.. Wailea BigBeach/Makenna areas are can't misses, with lots of condos & fine beaches. Central is Kannapali w/ pretty (thin) beach but it is more pricey & dense It is hotels primarily (thinking kids). Wherever you stay..visit all.
P.s. The law sez that all beaches have public access but the Hotels on Kannapali sort disguise this(for those not staying there) ...so ask !
