We will be in Maui for 5 days in Sept. I have scoured multile websites for reviews. It looks like the Kaanapali area is where we want to stay. Costco has a package at the Aston Kaanapali Shores and Kaanapali Beach Hotel that looks good. Any comments or other suggestions?

Rocks and Roads in Utah

KBH is near a better beach and better variety of restaurants.
You can check all the options here with good areal pictures and reviews.

Kaanapali Shores is not on the beach known as Kaanapali. It's on Airport beach. It's a pretty long walk to the Whalers village unlike the KBH which is right next door.
If you want to be on the famous beach you should choose KBH.
We stayed at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Great location for the beach, snorkeling, restaurants, shopping. Easy walks! There are a couple buildings on the grounds. The one we stayed in was more dated than the rest. But we were rarely in our room. It's not a ritzy hotel, it's laid back & comfortable. Staff is great!
We've stayed twice at Polynesian Shores just up the road from Kaanapali and liked it a lot. (Minimal beach if that's important).
