My Fiance and I will be traveling to Maui for our Honeymoon in May for 4 days, 3 nights. We were wondering if we should stay in the West Side or the South Side? Also, with 2 and 1/2 days ( we arrive on day 1 at 8 pm and leave on day 4 to Kauai) if it is worth renting a car?
Thank you

If you're not going to rent a car and see the island, I'd suggest skipping Maui altogether and just heading to Kauai for the whole trip.
I would stay in Wailea.

Yes, it is worth renting a car, unless you just want to veg at the Four Seasons and be content being spritzed with Evian while gazing at the work of skilled cosmetic surgeons.
I can recommend Hali'imaile general store. It would be worth it to have the car just to drive upcountry for the afternoon and have dinner here. A table for two by one of the front windows is very nice.
I love the food at Sansei. I've only eaten at the location in Kihei.
Congratulations.
I agree with sf7307 about heading directly to Kauai, especially if your honeymoon is less than 10 days. But if you're set on Maui, I'd recommend the west side in May, and in any case, renting a car. Which you should be able to do for close to the round-trip taxi fare.
