We are planning to spend part of our honeymoon in Maui and would like some input on where to stay-the Hyatt, Ritz or Four Seasons - or any other suggestions you may have.

I would choose the Ritz_Carlton. I have not stayed there but have heard so much about it, I would next time....the reason I did not stay there is that the beach is not right outside, they take you a short way in a cart I believe..It is supposed to be wonderful with excellent service and sounds perfect for a Honeymoon.
Hyatt is nice also but is Huge and can be very crowded, it,s more in the middle of the action if that is what you like.
We were at the Four Season's in February, did not find service very good, we had an executive suite and even with that did not have a great view of the water, I found the beach to be not extremely nice, sand seemed more like mud and beach service again was not exceptional. Here too, they would put beach chairs too close together.
Pool is not exceptional and crowded.
I hope wherever you choose you have a wonderful Honeymoon.
If I can be any help with information on any other Islands or Resorts you can E-Mail me.
One of my children lives there so I do visit often.
Aloha Kim,
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Maui is a fun place to celebrate the honeymoon. Good choices all, but it really depends on what you are looking for. If you want to have fun, meet other honeymooners like yourself, walk along the beach, swim under the waterfall in the pool or slide down a faux lava tube, go to the Hyatt. I used to work there and have many honeymooning clients who stay there. It is fun and in a great location for easy access to restaurants, shops and activities.
The Ritz Carlton is elegant and a bit reserved. Depending on what time of year you come, it can be a bit rainy comapred to other parts of the island. They have a beautiful pool area, and yes, the beach is down the hill from the hotel. They have shuttles /golf cart type back and forth to the beach. Not too much of a hassle. The staff there is very accomodating and the veiws are spetacular. You will be located next to Kapalua Golf courses which are some of the best if you like golf. A few restaurant and shops in the area too.
Good luck and best wishes. If you need any help planning your trip, I live here in Maui and offer a vacation consulting service. Please check out my web site at http://www.maui.net/~mauikay/
Aloha,
Kay
I would suggest you check out the Kea Lani Resort. Their rooms are all suites with plenty of room! Open, walk-in showers, and separate bathtubs big enough for two! The hotel grounds have a classic, understated elegance about them. There are three pools, only 350 rooms, and they do not cater to families, so there is a minimum of children. We went there for our eighth anniversary and were sorry we had only booked seven nights. It's the perfect hotel for honeymooners. Check out their website.
