Maryland/Virginia Stay Spas
I am looking for a weekend SPA getaway for myself and 3 girlfriends in the Maryland/Virginia area. Any suggestions? We are interested in a heated pool, dining and lots of spa treatments! Thanks!

The Coolfont Spa in the upper corner of WVA is great - has everything you've asked for and is about 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Montgomery County or Fairfax County. I've gone with 3 friends for several years and we've had a great time! There are also rooms available if you'd like to stay over.

The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner (Virginia) may be a good choice. They have a spa, indoor pool, steam, sauna, access to golf, several restaurants and when you aren't eating, spaing or golfing you can shop at Tyson's Corner.
They offer spa packages. Contact them via the website at ritzcarlton.com or

Drive a bit further (3 hrs from DC) to Nemacolin Woodlands in PA. This is a serious spa facility and great weekend getaway, not cheap. Otherwise, I like the Tysons Ritz too. Haven't tried the new Hyatt Chesapeake Bay yet but they supposedly have a nice facility too, and it's about 1 1/2 hours max from DC.

Ditto what LN said about Coolfont. It has all you asked for, at a reasonable price. It is near Berkeley Springs, where you can take the mineral baths. Plus it is in a pristine mountain setting.
For a fun side trip you can drive through some beautiful country to Paw Paw and walk through the famous Paw Paw C&O Canal tunnel.

Coolfont is great - good spa services and not too foo-foo. Even though Greenbriar, Homestead and Nemacolin are all more luxurious, I had more fun at Coolfont than at any of the others.
Look at their schedule online and see if you can fit in one of their "wild women" weekends -great way to let your hair down.

I had a wonderful time at Turf Valley for my girlfriends weekend. Not sure about the heated pool.

The spa at the Lansdowne Resort near Leesburg, VA is REALLY nice. The hotel/resort is quite nice too and has three restaurants on site. More of a golf/spa/resort than a quaint B&B/spa. There is good shopping at the outlets in Leesburg too if you are into that.
