Best place is on Maryland's Eastern Shore at
Crisfield,MD.You can also take the mail boat from
there to another great spot and that is
Tangier Island in the Chesapeake Bay. It's a great
place to get away from it all. There are
accomodations available on the island also.
Good Luck

ED is correct. I was introduced to MD crabs about 30 years ago when I first moved to Maryland. Nothing compares!! Crisfield is an enchanting (rustic, primitive, scenic) place, and the crabbing and crab eating are wonderful. There are other places with more atmosphere and higher prices (Phillips in Baltimore & Ocean City; Fred's in Annapolis), but I would not forego the Crisfield experience. I would say that anyplace near the water on the Eastern Shore of Maryland would not be a mistake (Maryland's Eastern shore of the Cheasepeake Bay). They are expensive this year (have been told that they are not plentiful) and this time of the year particularly. By August they should be less expensive. We have been getting them in the northernmost Washington suburbs for about $55 on weekends, less during the week. They will be sky high for the 4th of July. Let me know if I can help you further.

Those suggestions are right on the money if you're on the eastern shore, but if you happen to be in bal'mer (baltimore, that is), then try obricki's. They'll supply the paper-covered table, the mallets, the victims, and the old bay - you supply the slimy elbows.
