Marriott's in Washington DC

My wife and I would like to go to Washington DC the last week of September and were wondering where there any Marriott's that are in close proximity to the museums and landmarks that were particulary nice. Do you need to reserve tickets in advance for the Smithsonian, Capitol, etc? I would like to use some of my points. Thank you.

I'm too lazy right now to do a tiny URL so if you just click on my name, my DC Marriott thread will come up about #8 or so in my recent threads. Read the whole thread to get reviews on most of the Marriotts in DC.

www.tinyurl.com
Makes long URLs into short ones, which are better for posting.

The J W Marriott is probably in the best location in DC for sightseeing. It's right downtown, off Pennsylvania Ave, G St and between 11th or 12th Sts.

147747 - Sorry,I haven't stayed at any Residence or Courtyards in DC although I have stayed in many in other locations. repete did say that the Courtyard Chinatown is in a good location so I would check that one out.

Yeah, I like that location a lot and the Courtyard looks like a nice option. It's closer to the heart of the Mall than the JW -- but farther from the Washington Monument and White House. The Archives are just down the street.

It generally gets good reviews, but beware of the tripadvisor comments -- one of the stranger ones talked about the "'80s furnishings" when in fact it was a complete rehab of an old bank 7 or 8 years ago ...

I love the location for dining. We were down there just yesterday on an errand and popped into Jaleo for a quick, late lunch but the options are so many ... and always find something new, this time an incredible date/bacon fritter tapas.

For the Capitol, contact your member of Congress - though it might be too late. Smithsonians need no reservations.
