Marriott versus Hyatt Waikiki
Hi, I can get a great deal for the Marriott and Hyatt in Waikiki. Is there a diffrence between the two, or anything you know of that can help me too make my choice ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I don't know where the Hyatt is, but when I was in Waikiki two weeks ago, I stayed across the street from the Marriott; I could see their balconies from mine. It's one block from the beach, and I liked the location at the south part of Waikiki. I was able to snorkel in the ocean by the beach here (some cool fish) - maybe you can all up and down the beach, for all I know. But some may prefer to be closer to the International Marketplace, etc.

The Hyatt is a couple blocks or so down the same street from the Marriott. The Hyatt is across the street from the beach as is the Marriott. The Hyatt is a little closer to places such as the Royal Hawaiian shopping arcade, the Moana Surfrider, etc., and some of the other very high end stores.
The Marriott is closer to the Queen's Surf beach area.
I think the Hyatt is a little more dramatic in terms of its lobby and overall design.
If I had the choice I would stay at the Hyatt b ut you cannot go wrong with either.

Both properties are comparable but it depends on what you are looking for. I like the Marriott better. Traffic-wise, I feel like it's easier to get in and out of the Marriott since the area near the Hyatt is really congested (especially late afternoons). And, I don't care for the Hyatt's front desk not being on the ground floor.

If you have an ocean view, the view from Marriott is probably better.
There are no hotels across Kalakaua Ave from either hotel.
The Moana Surfrider & Outrigger hotels are the first ones on the beach side of Kalakaua. They will block some of the ocean view to the right from the Hyatt. If you choose Hyatt & want an ocean view, get one from the tower closest to Diamond Head.

We love the twin towers of the Hyatt and the location in that part of Waikiki, it's close to everything. We get a ocean view, high floor 37-39th, and the view of the ocean, Diamond Head and Waikiki skyline is fantastic from the DH tower. (be sure to book that tower) Large rooms and balconies and breakfast buffet included on the Sunshine on Sale package with one night free.
Go out the door of the DH tower, cross the street and you are sitting on Kuhio Beach. The Hyatt has beach chairs and towels for their guests to use, which is nice. We rent a car, and have not had trouble with traffic, but we are from LA. We like Marriotts, but that one is too far down from everything.

hilversum, care to share where and what your great deal is?
We stayed at the Marriott a couple of years ago and liked it a great deal. We had an oceanview and a Diamond Head view.
We have not stayed at the Hyatt, but have stayed on that end at the Ilikai and walked thru the grounds at the Hyatt which were splendid.
Tough decision...where to stay in Paradise? Happy trails..don't think you can go wrong at either place

I have stayed at the Marriott, but if I were to go again with only these 2 choices,I would pick the Hyatt. The main difference for me is the quality of the ocean swimming. Across from the Marriott is a walled-in swimming area that is more like a big pool. I prefer a bit more sand and wave action, so the beach across from the Hyatt is more my style. Although Waikiki's not my favorite island destination, when I do go there I figure I might as well be in the heart of it. For me, that's the area right around the Moana, Royal Hawaiian, Outrigger Waikiki, and Hyatt. The Marriott is 2-3 blocks off "prime", IMO.
