Marquette Hotel Minneapolis

Could someone tell me a few things about this hotel? Is it new? Is it in a good location (downtown)? Does it have parking? I was quoted a rate of $99 night for a standard room. Is this a good price?

There aren't many rooms in town over Labor Day weekend, so I need to decide soon.

I've stayed at the Marquette many times over the past 10 years.
It's not a new hotel by any means, perhaps 20 years old by now. Run by Hilton (not a good thing IMO).
Pluses: excellent location for downtown activities, connected to skywalks, part of the IDS Center (tallest building in MN). Rooms are very large and every room I've ever seen has a corner view (the hotel is built with a stairstep outer wall so most every room juts out from room next door). Big enclosed showers. Convenient underground parking.
Negatives: Hilton's let it run down somewhat.....not badly, but things like mildew stains in the grout in the shower, peeling grout, worn carpet, stains, lots of little things like that. But the rates are often good and $99 is certainly well below their rack rate.
The thing that irritates me most about MPLS is that there's not a single luxury hotel there. Nothing above a solid Radisson/Hilton type place.
Oh well. It's a great town nonetheless.

The Marquette is over 25 years old as it was there when I lived in Mpls. in the early 70's. We have stayed there a number of times since then and it is nice and the location is excellent for downtown Mpls. but we prefer the Radisson Plaza Downtown which is also a great location. Minneapolis is a wonderful city! We just got back from there two days ago and had a wonderful time walking around the lakes and enjoying the summer activities in Mpls.

Thanks Jack and Cali! It sounds like an ok place. I've had a hard time finding anything cheaper, so I will probably go with it. The Radisson and Hyatt had no rooms available at all from what I could see.

I've never been to Minneapolis, and I'm looking forward to seeing the city.
Thanks again.

I have never been to the Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis, however you should visit their web site's Hot Deals page if you already haven't at:
