We'll be driving through Missouri this summer on the way to a family event and I thought we would enjoy touring the Laura Ingalls Wilder home and museum in Mansfield. It looks like there is one B&B in town. Is there anywhere else to stay nearby? Will we need to stay in Springfield? Any recommendations?

I haven't been to Mansfield and can't make a recommendation. visitmo.com lists 2 lodgings: Born Again B&B, which is described as best suited to adults and having a "Christian emphasis", and the Little House Inn, with no description. The current MO vacation planner book also lists Mansfield House Cabins. visitmo.com and the print planner are put out by the Mo division of tourism; you can order a planner on the web site. The web site is (apparently) not comprehensive, and the planner is mainly ads, but either may give you some good ideas.
The Little House Inn in Mansfield is a typical small town non chain motel. I've stayed there and don't remember anything bad about it, just a place to stay before we saw the home the next day. It's not an all day visit and Springfield is very close by with lots of motels if you don't think this one will work.
Hope I'm not too late to help, but I would recommend staying in Springfield. I live in SW MO, and I have been to Mansfield a number of times and had no idea they even had any kind of motel as it's a pretty small town. In any case, the Little House Museum is neat, but it's definately a couple of hours at the most. I recommend the Walnut Street B&B in Springfield, or we have all the major chains like Comfort, Hampton, Courtyard, etc.
While you're at the LIW museum, check out the newly opened (within the last year or two) Rock House just past the museum that Laura and Almanzo lived in at one time. The people at the museum should tell you about it.
