Manhattan Hotel near High Line appx $200/night

DH has a film coming out in NY next month opening at Union Square theater so we'd like to stay South of 34th... we don't need to be walking distance. We've stayed in upper Manhattan before which was lovely, but the last time I was in NY (he hasn't been since 2005) I fell in love with the High Line, so I thought it'd be a great treat to stay somewhere close-ish to Union Square or even further West by Chelsea, Greenwich Village, SoHo, TriBeCa -- any of those areas would be fantastic.

We're targeting $200/night (I pride myself in finding steals -and we're usually open to B&Bs, shared bathrooms, VRBO etc., but since we're in NY for a special occasion, I don't want to risk any hassles this time). I know this is a challenge. I've found several more "chain" type options for that budget, which will be "fine" but thought I'd ask this community for your ideas before we book.
