There are no hotels located in the Mall of America. However, nearby you will find all of the familiar ones. Most offer "mega-mall" packages including shuttle to and from. Have fun. I was just there last week for a day. That wasn't nearly long enough. Try to eat at the Rainforest Cafe, it's worth the wait.
I've stayed at many of the hotels in the area of the Mall, but none is what I'd call luxury. The Marriott is a pleasant, but somewhat old facility. Upgrading to their business class floor gives you a bit more room. It is just north of the Mall--easy walking distance. A new Homewood Suites just opened on July 9--again not a luxury facility, but comfortable, nice 2 room suites and very clean. It is located next to a Country Inn and Suites by Carlson (also stayed there--the Homewood is nicer). A new Residence Inn opened in June and I stayed there--only problem is that it is almost directly over the standard departure flight path. Very loud, particularly for the room that I had on the 3rd floor that faced the airport. A very nice property except for that. I've also stayed at the DoubleTree, just east of the Mall. It's ok, but not my first choice.
If you're looking for Ritz Carlton types of luxury, there is no hotel that fits that level of service in the Mall vicinity. Several of the above are adequate.
We fly to Minnesota frequently and go to Mall of America. There are many hotels in the Airport/Mall of America Area and most are quite pleasant - at least the name ones. I personally like Hotel Sofitel (not right at the Mall but has shuttle service to the mall) or the Radisson South Plaza Tower (also shuttle service). Again, no 5 stars, but totally acceptable and good service. While in Mn., also go to Southdale Mall and Galleria. Have some great shops and I like downtown Mpls. shopping too. Better shopping than my home area in Calif.
