Mall nearest Daytona / Ormond Beach
We will be in Ormond Beach next week and thought it could be fun to hit a big mall (something we don't have near us!), but it doesn't look like the immediate area has much. We'll have a rental car and don't mind driving a bit. Are there any nice malls within an hour or two's drive? Thanks!

There's a mall on International Speedway Drive in Daytona with all the usual suspects, but if you're looking for more variety, try Mall at Millenia or Florida Mall in Orlando.

The mall in Daytona is TERRIBLE, probably even compared to where you are coming from (there isn't even a GAP there anymore). The Florida Mall is much bigger, however, it is in a somewhat congested and touristy area. The Seminole Towne Center Mall in Sanford is also nice and a bit closer than Orlando (take I-4 to get there).

We were just at the Millenia Mall in Orlando yesterday before heading to the airport.
The ground floor has a wonderful Christmas display, very large and beautifully decorated.
There is a large food court, as well as several restaurants.
You will find many upscale stores (Gucci, Tiffany's, etc.) as well as Macy's and Bloomingdale's. We enjoyed browsing thru the Metropolitan Museum Shop on the top floor. Lots of great gift ideas.

All of the suggestions mentioned are good ones.
The Altamonte Mall <http://www.altamontemall.com/html/index20.asp> in Altamonte Springs is approximately 60-75 minutes away, by car, from Ormond Beach via I-95 & I-4. It is a good sized mall and 30-45 minutes driving time closer that Florida Mall or Mall at Millenia.

Thanks for the info and especially the links! I think Mall at Millennia is the closest to what we're looking for. Google Maps is predicting an hour and ten minute drive to this mall from Ormond Beach- I'm guessing that's a bit optimistic? But if we go for the day a long drive isn't so bad.

Having lived here 20+ years, I agree that the hour and 10 minute drive time estimate from Ormond Beach to Mall at Millennia is overly optimistic. However, you are very close to some other excellent shopping at the newly renovated Prime Outlets <http://www.primeoutlets.com/cntrdefa...p?cntrid=1077>
formerly called the Belz Factory Outlet Mall. They have undergone MAJOR renovations and are open for business. Not sure if it is 100% open, but there is enough there to justify a stop. You can do both in one trip. Happy Shopping!

There is some great shopping in Downtown Daytona Beach. Visit www.downtowndaytonabeach.com to learn more some of the unique boutiques and restaurants in the area. Who needs the mall?
