Makapu Beach Club rooms

Does anyone have pictures of the Makapu Beach Club rooms at the Renaissance Wailea Resort in Maui? We are thinking of staying there this summer but can't find pictures of the inside on the web. If you have photos to share, please reply and let me know if I can view them on-line. And if anyone that has stayed in them could describe them and let us know if it's worth the extra cost it would be appreciated! Thanks!

I stayed in the Mokapu last May -I posted a review under the Renaissance. I doubt you will find pictures as the rooms are not that big nor would I classify them as luxurious as compared to 5 star properties in Hawaii. The rooms are clean and basic - the advantage IMO is the proximity to the great beach out front, your own "private" stretch of sand/grass and chairs (but others tend to poach in without much interference from the staff)and the private "concierge" who really is excellent, personable and works hard to please. As far as the rate please note that you can get the Mokapu at a discounted rate, either thru on-line specials or through Discount books.

I have reservations to stay at the Makapu this July. I'm using Marriott points but paying an extra $120 per night to have a "Makapu room". I'm wondering if it's worth that much?? How does it compare to the deluxe rooms in the Renaissance? It would save me $720 just to stay in the hotel versus the Makapu if the rooms are not worth the extra value. Opinions?

save the $720! you will need it for dinners in Wailea! be sure to request a room on the higher floors in the main building as the vegetation/palm trees et al will impact the ocean view.

Really, the rooms are not worth the extra money, eh? Something to consider. By the way, shouldn't this post be under the Hawaii subject versus United States?
