"Low Season" in Vegas?

Is there such a thing? I guess I was just wondering what time of year has the lowest hotel rates.
Thanks!

I would maintian that there are some very narrow windows. The week before Christmas. Perhaps Thanksgiving week. The first or second week of January not including 1/1.

Summer used to be but I don't believe that is true any longer.

We have gone to 'Vegas several times a year for over 25 years (we live within a few hundred miles) and we have noticed a distinct rise in prices in what was always the "off season" over the last few years. There are days here and there that have lower rates (look at the calendars on the major hotels websites) but overall there is no real low season anymore. The week before Xmas is traditionally a little slow up there, hence a little less expensive, but last Dec. when we were there that week the city was jammed with people. Even mid-week rates, while lower, then weekends, are not the bargain they once were.

I think alot of this has to do with the attitude of many people "I'm going anyway, no matter what it costs", and the flood of recent TV shows featuring 'Vegas. Remember, also, the city is very popular with foreign visitors and many of them have much stronger currencies (Euro, Pound, etc.) then the Dollar at this time. The hotels know this and do not have to offer any "deals" because people are willing to pay full price.

Again, check hotel calendars for the "less expensive days", there are some (here and there) but do not expect there to be many. Incidentally, Vegas is also a huge convention destination which has driven prices up tremendously.

We have generally noticed that the first week or two in Dec that the hotels have lower rates. The downside to it is it is also when a lot of the shows are dark.

I'm not sure there IS a low season anymore with the exception of the couple of weeks around Christmas, before New Years. There are so many conventions there. My friend is in Las Vegas this week with the Red Hat Society and I'm sure they aren't the only "game" in town. When you have that many rooms you have to keep 'em full. I read in the paper this morning that Wynn has another hotel in the works, right next door to the new one. The new one will have even more rooms and they will be connected together with a walkway of someking..shops, etc.

We were in Vegas last week. It was pretty crowded. Saw the ladies of the Red Hat Society quite frequently. The only time it was quiet was early in the a.m. We stayed at Bellagio - people all over the place. It is a tourist attraction all by itself.

Not really. However, hotel rates in LV are lower Monday-Thursday which is the reverse of most cities.

Low season seems to be just after we've returned home from Vegas.

I go in summer. I got my name on the individual hotels e-mail lists and I get promos that are fairly decent. I will be staying at the Bellagio in room overlooking the fountains @ $149/night.
The Venetian and Paris had rooms for $99/night.
I book my plane for sometime in July and then I wait for the hotel offers to come in and book accordingly.
