Lovely Hotel for R and R around 2 hours from NYC. Suggestions please

I know that this is last minute but does anyone have any suggestions for a luxury ish B and B or Hotel around 2 hours drive from NYC? Somehere like Buttermilk farms ( but it is booked )

Ideally with a whirlpool bath or large freestanding tub. Our budget is around $200-250 per night.

Thanks in advance

Stayed in the Gate House, which is where Boggie and Bacall spent their honeymoon.

When is the trip? $200-250 won't get much over a summer or holiday weekend.

Shelter Island. A few B&Bs, and very quiet off season. Or Gurney's Inn, Montauk. You might be able to find something in the Hamptons. Until Memorial Day, it's great (and quiet).

Just be aware that some places - restaurants, etc - are only open from Memorial Day weekend on.

This is near Farmington, Ct., where there are a lot of historic homes to explore. It's a lovely area.

Spring Lake, NJ is another lovely town for B&B's.

Spring Lake is a good suggestion. You might look at the Breakers in Spring Lake. Also
Otesaga in Cooperstown, NY
The Boulders-New Preston CT
Mayflower Inn-Washington, CT
Madison Beach Hotel-Madison, CT

also New Hope, PA

Spring Lake is nice but the places I've seen are not really luxurious and they cost more tnan $200-250 on weekends.
The Mayflower Inn in Washington Ct is more like $200 just for a meal!
Madison CT is a lovely little town (which has some B&Bs I think) The hotel doesn't seem to be reopened yet. I thought it was going to be torn down or sold but I guess they renovated, though the website has no price or availability details.

ginger6104, would you travel further or raise your budget? I think your options are pretty limited unless it's midweek or off season

Personally I think your budget is much too low for luxury.

BTW there is a luxurious place in Spring Lake....The Hewitt Wellington, but again I'm sure it will be more than $250 per night.

Have you gone on TripAdvisor to check on B&Bs in the Berkshires or near Chatham, New York? There are a few in Hudson, NY that are interesting.

Woodloch (mentioned by bmw737002) looks nice but like most of the other options suggested is higher priced than the OP wants. It would be nice if OP came back to let people know if any of the suggestions or something else they found fit the bill

I agree. When the OP doesn't come back within a couple of days, it's probably a waste of time to keep making suggestions.

It can be useful for others, however.
