Looking to travel to Hawaii for under $1,000
Hello Guys
I am really interested in travelling to Hawaii (my 1st visit) this April for about 4-5 nights for under $1,000 (maybe 700-800 bucks) which includes food. I would primarily be interested in staying in Honolulu. Do any of you have any suggestions on some places where I can look for a decent deal? I've looked on the Hawaiian Air site and I only get over 1,000 packages and I've struck out on Expedia as well. Any input would be appreciated.

Are you traveling alone?
If so, check for air only.
You can stay in a budget hotel like Royal Grove or in a hostel to keep the cost down.
You can also check www.vrbo.com for lodging.
You also need to mention where you are flying from.
Food can be really inexpensive. Anything from fast food to buffets that would only be $5-$10 & up. So no need to worry about food costs.

You want to get an air-hotel package. I just went to unitedvacations.com and plugged in April 6-10 and got a total package price of $837.60 for roundtrip airfare and four nights hotel (Ohana Maile Sky Court). Take the city bus from the airport to Waikiki.
You could try there or travelocity or site59 or your fave airlines webpage or other travel booking site.

Try this site, www.hawaiiforless.com I know a few people who use this for travel all the time to Hawaii. I have heard nothing but good things about them...let me know what you think.

There you have it!! Book DebitNM's suggestion for air. & book www.hawaiianahotelatwaikiki for your hotel. I love this place because it is "old hawaii" low-rise with lots of beautiful plants, garden, lawn, and two small pools. A few blocks from the beach. The other hotels you will likely get on the budget packages are ugly cement generic high-rise kind of places. (I realize this may or may not be a concern for you.)

Hate to be a wet blanket, but Hawaii is a long ways to go for just 4-5 nights. Why don't you wait 'til you have a bigger budget to work with? You don't have to spend a lot of money, but you'll enjoy the experience more if you can afford a splurge or two.

Don, if you live in LA area, find a russian tour agency. My father got a package from them in San Francisco dirt cheap, Waikiki hotel, not on the beach, but about 15 minutes walk.
BeachBum, sorry, but I respectfully disagree. There may be reasons for Don to go now, and go cheap, which we don't know about.

Waikiki is one place I'm willing to go for a short stay. Especially just flying from the west coast on a non-stop flight. I've done a 5 day trip there (to celebrate a birthday one year) and it was great.

The prices I quoted for the air-hotel packages were for ONE PERSON and included taxes.
Today I got an e-mail from travelocity saying the "my" 4-day getaway to Hawaii could cost as little as $429* for travel thru Dec. 14. Book by Feb 28.
Hawaii is a great place for a getaway from LAX.
Here is the travelocity ad:

I didn't check that add to see whether or not the prices were ppdo or all in.
