Looking for Upper Peninsula Wedding Site

I am looking for a site to host an outdoor wedding in the upper peninsula of michigan. Does anyone have any suggestions for a place on either of the big lakes or an inland lake or river where there is a pavilion or a tent could be set up and people could camp/stay in a hotel nearby? We are hoping for something rustic and wilderness oriented, yet where we can have a live band and reception.
Thanks!

Are you at all familiar with the UP in winter?? Camping in the UP in winter? I go up there in the summer and it's beautiful, but winter is rugged. A tent for anything up there at that time sounds like torture. Do you have any idea of the temperatures and snowfall? Very likely to have roads closed, subzero temperatures. Does not sound like a recipe for a pleasant wedding. Do you think your guests would actually enjoy this? Maybe if they're really into snowmobiling....

Sorry, I have to clarify... the wedding is mid-June. And yes, I am familiar with the UP. I know about snow. I have been coming up for years in the summer and grew up in Northern Michigan. I am just hoping for ideas that might not be commercial wedding sites, per se.
Thanks.

I am grasping at straws, but let me throw out some ideas.

Bridge View Park in St. Ignace, right by the foot of the Mackinac Bridge. Also the park on the Mackinaw City side.

Grounds of Whitefish Point Light (Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum), Point Iroquois Lighthouse, Seul Choix Pointe Light, Au Sable Point Lighthouse, or beside the Light Keepers House & Museum in Grand Maris.

Along the St Mary's River below Sault Ste Marie - several possible locations.

Picture Rocks cruise boat.

Fayette Historic State Park.

I would check out the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island. They are a popular area for weddings for a reason -- it is a special setting -- with horse drawn carriages - flowers (lilacs in bloom). If your party is small it might be just the thing that separates it from the standard traditional wedding.

My wife and I just got back from Upper Michigan. We live in Wisconsin, and every year we go up to The Listening Inn B&B located in Crystal Falls(near the MI/WI border). The owner recently got married on the property, and its just gorgeous and I really wish we would have had our wedding there.

You can check out pictures of the place here.

We like to visit The ListeningInn twice a year, once in winter and then again in spring. The owner, Carol Kufahl, has a 10,000sqft log cabin located on 562acres of land. You can cross country ski, snow shoe, hunt(in season), fish, or just relax in your hottuin room).

If you are interested give her a call and tell her that T.J. & Renee Holdren sent you! Otherwise just shoot me an email at [email protected]
