My wife and I are going away for a 3 or 4 day vacation in Florida this September. I am looking for suggestions as to what part of Florida may be considered best that time of year and what hotels would be considered the best/romantic. Would someplace on the ocean be good around then? We are leaning towards Orlando (if the ocean part wouldn't be great) - we would love something more than the simple hotel room - jacuzzi, very nice, etc. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Not exactly hotels, but my wife and I love the Inns in St. Augustine and Fernandina Beach(Amelia Island). There are many to choose from depending on what you are looking for. Fernandina Beach is smaller quieter with easy beach access. St. Augustine has lots to do and see and easy beach access as well.
Your price range? What do you like to do? Quiet or big town? September is the same anywhere in Florida - hot/summer (we love it), so from that perspective, north, central, south or the Keys will be the same. West Coast is quieter water, the East Coast, the Atlantic, with waves and cooler water. There are beautiful beaches on either side, just gotta know what you want.
Just focusing on the topic "romantic hotels in Florida"...here are a few of our favorites.....
The Breakers, Palm Beach
Little Palm Island (The Keys--big $$$, no kids)
The Vinnoy Resort (Renaissance, i think)-Tampa
JW Marriott-Grande Lakes, (Orlando) & The Ritz on the same property
Marco Island Marriott-Marco Island
The Ritz Naples (beachfront), Naples
LaPlaya, Naples
Fountainbleau, Miami Beach
Hoping to visit soon: Aqualina, Sunny Isles Beach (awesome reviews on Tripadvisor)
Notes: Weather will likely be Hot & you should find some of the lowest prices of the entire year due to Hurricane season & all the families in back-to-school mode!
Sanibel Harbor Inn and Resort
South Seas Resort
