Looking for reasonable hotel ($300/night or less) in NYC; traveling with elderly father

It's been many years since I've been to NYC. I'll be traveling with my father to a family wedding in October. The wedding's at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament and the reception's at the Essex House. I'd like to get a hotel room nearby to reduce the amount of walking Dad will have to do as much as possible. Any suggestions?

Why not the Essex House. It is now a Westin hotel and you could probably get something in your price range. Other hotels on Central Park South (where Essex is located) are Helmsley Park Lane and the Intercontinental CPS,

Check with the bride's family. Many times, there is block of rooms set aside for wedding guests at the site of the wedding, and sometimes the rooms are at a special rate. Or you could call the hotel and ask.

The church is on West 71st street, so you can choose hotels on the upper west side. The Mayflower hotel, and older hotel on Central Park West, would be a choice that is in between both locations. The Empire Hotel would also be a good choice. The Park Central, on 7th Ave near 57th, is also a possibilitiy.

I would suggest the Excelsior Hotel on the Upper West Side its located on 81st Street and Central Park. Moderately priced and its been newly renovated. Its like being away from home because the staff is so friendly and open, not like their doing there jobs they actually feel like we're family
