Looking for Oregon beach house to rent
Can anyone give me ideas on a beach house to rent on the central Oregon coast (between Depoe Bay & Waldport) that accepts a dog and isn't insanely expensive? I'm finding places with reasonable rates ($200/night) but then they tack on fees almost doubling that! $400 a night is out of our range. Within walking distance to the beach would be nice...
Thanks!

Extra fees are standard for vacation rentals. It sounds like a hotel/motel might be a better option for you.
I can't help with specific vacation rentals in that area, but there are numerous hotels that accept dogs. Take a look at Newport as it is the largest town in that area and very popular with visitors.

You can get a suite at a hotel that allows dogs you're not going to get a rental without that fee. Honestly, though, if this is summer you may just have to up your budget. Most of the places I've checked out that don't have big fees are more expensive than 200 a night.
How about a cabin at a campground? Like KOA? Not walking distance but usually dog friendly without fees

$50 is pretty normal. We've a pretty short list of places we're willing to stay because of dog fees- try to avoid paying them. Hallmark's probably top of the list in Newport area. Their fee is $20 bucks, they're genuinely pet friendly, and they claim they donate part of that fee to humane society. You can't leave the dog unattended but I doubt you're allowed to at rentals either.

If you want to take the dog you probably just need to give up on the idea of a rental. The pet fees are pretty standard - and the nicer the property, typically the higher pet fees.
There are plenty of motels in the area that take pets.

Several of the yurts in Oregon State Parks are pet friendly.

Home rentals always work best for longer stays (5+ nights) so that the cleaning fee is amortized. Owners don't want to absorb the cleaning cost into a nightly rate because it penalizes longer stays and rewards shorter stays which is generally the opposite of what home owners are trying to do. Please share what you find!

Are you locked into that section of coastline? Bandon is 100+ miles south, but it's one of the nicest Oregon coastal towns, and has what IMO are the most naturally scenic beaches. Since it's farther from population centers, vacation rental rates are less too.

Are you working with a vacation rental company?
Here is a link to one I know of in Yachats.

I have a friend who brings her dog to the coast in the Yachats area and I know she does not pay $500/nt. So I suggest you keep looking.
