Looking for good CASUAL dining in Waikiki area

We're staying at the Hyatt Waikiki in a few months. I'm looking for some good, casual places to eat that are within a 30 minute drive. Like a really good burger place or something similar.

Thanks!!

Is there a reason you want to drive so far outside of Waikiki? There's literally hunderds of great casual restaurants easy walking distance from your hotel.

"within 30 minutes". Doesn't *have* to be a 30 minute drive! LOL I just don't want to drive MORE than that. I don't need hundreds of recommendations. Just a few favorites.

1. kua'aina burgers in Ward Center - about 10 mins by car.

2. cheeseburger in paradise on Kalakaua Ave - less than 10 mins walk from your hotel.

Burgers on the Edge- about a five minute drive up Kapahulu Ave. Shares parking with the big Safeway
Teddy's Bigger Burgers- also on Kapahulu Ave at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki.

Other good food on Kapahulu: Ono Hawaiian Food. REal Hawaiian food. Go early to avoid lines
Genki Sushi: A chain, but still has tasty inexpensive sushi and other items too.

Rumfire, in the sheraton Waikiki. Get a seat overlooking the beach right before sunset. Happy Hour drink prices are good, and they have some good happy hour food too!

once your settled in Waikiki, you have no need to drive anywhere.
suze is right about just walking to some of the best great restaurants that are local, cheap and outstanding and no one is ordering a burger.
You have to get out of that mind set..yes, there are burgers everywhere but come on..you're in the islands..eat local!
don't forget your long white socks and black loafers too.

Well there's a Cheeseburger in Paradise right across from the beach that seems very popular.

Tiki Bar & Grill has a great 2nd floor patio setting overlooking the beach, and good hamburgers and sandwiches, live music in the evenings.

here's a few favorites from my trip last year-

ME Korean BBQ, 151 Uluniu Ave. at the Royal Grove hotel. Breakfasts: Scrambled eggs, 3 strips of bacon (or spam or portuguese sausage), wheat toast or 2 scoops rice $4.25. Made fresh, eaten on the outdoor patio. Full plate BBQ chicken dinner $8.50, 2 scoops rice, 4 vegetable sides.

ShoreBird at Outrigger Reef hotel $12.95 breakfast buffet was nice with open dining room and ocean view. Three kinds of pastries, white bread, papaya, pineapple, canned peaches, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, portugese sausage, corned beef hash, poached white fish, fried rice, ham, turkey, juice, coffee, tea.

Eggs & Things at 343 Saratoga, cute place, breakfast menu including crepes suzettes, pancakes, waffles, omelettes, eggs ($9-12).

Seaside Bar & Grill, 2256 Kuhio, 2 pancake, 2 bacon, 2 scrambled egg special $3.75. Daily omelet special $6.95.

Blue Water Shimp Co. at the International Market food court. ~$12.95 for shrimp scampi or mac nut crusted opaka-paka. with green salad, small piece corn on the cob, sauteed vegetables, 2 scoops rice. They also have a 2nd location, a shrimp truck parked on Kuhio.

International Market has a Thursday 'farmers market' from 4 to 8 pm. Several families doing BBQ chicken plates. One Mom & Pop with amazing food... pork adobo, two other pork dishes, several vegetable sides (look for the set up on stainless steel steam trays, crock pots, rice cookers). My heaping to-go container with 2 main dishes was $5.50. They are only there on Thursdays. Real home cooking.

Keoni by Keos, 2375 Kuhio, nice atmosphere, serving both Thai and seafood.

The restaurant/bar at my own hotel "Sand Bar" (Waikiki Sand Villa) was decent with friendly service. Burgers, onion rings, mahimahi fish & chips, breakfasts.
