Looking for a nice reasonably priced restaurant for new year's eve.

We never make it til midnight, so we are looking for a reasonably priced restaurant for dinner. We are staying in Princeville. Any suggestions? Anything happening New Year's Day? Thanks.

What does "Reasonable" mean to you? $100 per person? $50 per person? $25 per person? Including alcohol or not?

I don't know what is reasonable in Hawaii. Average. Is $50/pp including alcohol doable?

I forgot to mention that I have been looking around the web for advertisements for new year's eve and I only found 1 at the St. Regis for $190 (I assume pp). That is too much for me. I'm looking for good food and a little ambiance for a good price. Thanks.

Does it have to be out a restaurant? I don't really like going out specifically on New Year's Eve because often it's very crowded and always the prices are artificially inflated. I think it's the perfect night to buy a fancy picnic dinner, a couple great bottles of champagne, and have eat at the beach or on your own lanai. What's better than that?

I love Hawaii. And was just picturing the options: 1) being in a busy restaurants and dropping a bunch of money with a crowd of people, or 2) having a lovely meal you put together (from a deli, grocery, specialty store, or restaurant to-go) in a park, on the beach, sitting on the porch or lanai (if you have one). I know which one I'd pick. Have the fancy meal out some other night, without the extra stress of NYE.

Glad you liked my idea! aloha, suze

Here's an excerpt from my most recent Kauai trip report:

... undoubtedly, the most delicious, romantic, and memorable meal of the trip was plump, luscious shrimp perfectly sautéed with red peppers, onions, kalamata onions, sun-dried tomatoes, and feta cheese—served on a bed of melt-in-your mouth gnocchi. This dish was served on my patio (at Sealodge) at sunset. It could be the culinary highlight of your trip, as well … um, er for the cost of my plane ticket—and accommodations . hehehe

PS. Forgot to mention ... my plane ticket wouldn't cost that much more than dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine at the St. Regis. And this would be so much more memorable. hehehe. ;-) Just let me know what time to be there.

Actually, I'll be going January 12th. Can't wait.

We'll also be staying in Princeville at that time and have New Years Eve (which also happens to be my birthday) reservations at Hukilau Lanai in Kapa'a. Hukilau is our favorite restaurant and a great place to go for a special occasion.
