Going down to the Sarasota area for a long weekend. Looking for a nice hotel on the beach. We want to spend no more than $250 a night. Any suggestions?
Has anybody stayed at the Hemsley Sand Castle Hotel on Lido Key?

Try the Half Moon Beach Club on Lido Beach - nice resort, not too expensive, right on beach.

Half Moon Bay is nice, and also very close to St. Armands with lots of shopping and good restaurants. The Sand Castle is not as nice. I'd suggest that you also check into LBK. The larger properties (Hilton, Colonly, LBK Club) are probably out of your price range that time of year, but there are many nice, small properties. If you could postpone your trip by a couple of weeks, the prices drop considerably and you'll get much more for your money.

I'm sorry--when I refer to LBK, I'm talking about Longboat Key.

Try the Longboat Key Hilton.. call them directly..my daughter got a good deal there.. the Resort at Long Boat Key Club is really nice but probably a little more expensive.
