Looking for a great rib eye

Looking for dinner for tomorrow night. We are staying downtown but will travel using public transit to get get a really great rib eye. Don't want Morton's or McCormick chain type place; looking for something that is local.

Gibson's without a doubt. Fabulous steaks, wonderful sides and for the first and only time in my life, a steakhouse waitress told me I was ordering too much food rather than trying to increase the bill with additional sides and sauces.

The best steak that I have had in recent years was at Harry Caray in Chicago.. Don't know about the ribeye.

I realize David Burke doesn't fit into your "local" request, although he is fully established in Chicago and well known for his assortment of dry aged rib eyes. I find yelp very useful, not for reviews, but for reviewer pictures. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by scrolling thru a few dozen pictures.

There's always Lawrey's. Mostly know for their prime rib, they do serve a good rib eye.

Chicago Cuts is supposed to be the best new place, have not made it yet. I had a great ribeye at Gene & Georgetti's a couple of weeks ago. A very Chicago place. Gibson's has a great Poterhouse and is very famous. Ditka's is fun and has good steaks.

Seems to me that everyone is Wet-aging their steaks over Dry-Aged in Chicago.

Went to David Burke. It was excellent! I had 40 day aged rib eye; DH had 55 day. Cooked to perfection at medium rare. Outside had a great "crust" and it was meltingly soft. The only seasoning was the Himalayan salt used to dry age it. The flavor of each was delsih; DH's was a bit stronger than mine, but not overwhelming.

Started with oysters for DH 3 each of two different kinds of west coasters); and a rich Lobster Bisque for me, that had a hint of heat. We then had a table side prepared Caesar Salad. This was our least liked item; good but nothing special. Along with the entree we had whipped truffle potatoes, creamy spinach and sautéed shrooms and onions. The sides were tasty but it was too much food. The trio would work if you had 4 people but for the two of us, it was too much. Coffee with macarons and a huge salted caramel finished the meal.

We were talking to a waiter ( not ours) about getting a box to bring back the scraps for Philthedog. We chatted a bit and when he returned from boxing them up, he told us that the chef and tossed in a few marrow bones for the dog! So, he is enjoying them as I type! Nice touch.

Oh, I do love those popovers! Funny, I adore a good Caesar salad, but have always found the tableside prep to be a letdown. Always meaning the 4 different restaurants we've tried it. If that place can't pull it off with the best of ingredients, I give up.
