Hi wife and I need a much needed escape weekend and are looking for suggestions in the Alabama, Georgia, North or South Carolina area. We would drive up from Florida. Would love to stay for under $140 a night.
Historic districts (walking would be great), romantic settings. Also a murder mystery type weekend sounds intriging.
any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Looking for a B&B in Southeast

Savannah would have lots of options and you can be more historic or romantic.
In the N GA mountains, here's where John Travolta stayed last month while filming in the area -

That area came to mind because the train used to have murder mystery trips. It doesn't look like they are doing that anymore -

Beechwood Mountain Inn is perfect. Enjoy your trip.

Littleman, have you ever been to Madison?
What do you like about the James Madison? Most in Madison do not recommend it.
Hillcrest Manor B&B in Montgomery, Alabama is very nice - pretty & romantic.
