Hubby and I are planning a long weekend in Oct 2nd or 3rd weekend.
Where should we go, would like to find a bike trail, nothing hard, a good brew pub is a must. Historical items and he wants to see a dinosaur print?? He's a big kid at heart..
Any suggestion would be great.. Driving up from NJ.

For dinosaur prints in the ground, visit the dinosaur state park in Rocky Hill, CT. It is just a mile or so off i 91 south of Hartford. In New Haven, there is Yale's Peabody Museum which has an extensive display of dinosaur prints. bones, etc. and in Waterford on rt 85 is a store that has many prints and sells them. The entire Connecticut river valley has layers of rock with prints in them, but most of it is on land that is not public. Years ago, my BIL was an excavator and they came across them often and usually did not alert anyone as it would slow up the job. I would guess that is the case often still. For biking, many of the defunct rail road pathways have been turned into trails for hiking and biking. One through the center of the state is the Airline Trail, it runs for many of miles through towns of East Hampton, Colchester, Hebron, and Lebanon. There are others in other parts of the state and are nice because you don't have to worry about vehicular traffic and the scenery is nice.
Thank you very much... I will check it out, hopefully there is a place to stay off one of these trails.
Saw your post on the other one and remembered I haven't replied. For brewpubs, there are a few off hand - all over the state. I agree with emalloy's recommendation for the bike trail.
City Steam Brewery in Hartford
Willimantic Brewery in Willimantic (would highly recommend it due to the old building)
Cambridge Brew House in East Granby
Hooker Brewery in Bloomfield (drinks only)
John Harvards in Manchester (chain brewery)
Another place to look at if you end up staying towards Colchester area of CT (not sure of hotels as I live here) would be the Bidwell Tavern. Huge beer selection and great wings.
If you are at a bar, look for Tenpenny Ale as it is a local beer. brewery is not open to the public though.
1 thought would be to stay near Norwich, CT, which is near the casinos so there are a bunch of hotels. You could easily get to the Airline Trail and to the Willimantic Brewery. Could also go into Mystic, CT (seaport with a bunch of ships). Then on your way back out, go to the Dinosaur State Park. You would also not be far from Waterford for the shop that emalloy referenced.
Here is the website for Willimantic Brewery. Its in an old Post Office so its in a historic building. The menu does have a Post Office theme where some of the food is named after various CT Towns.
