I am traveling from Tallahassee, FL to Beaufort, NC (a coastal town in Northern North Carolina) and I'm hoping to stop for a night on the trip and do a little sightseeing somewhere. I was thinking about Savannah, but am open to other suggestions for nice places to stop (I am planning on visiting Charleston later in the summer, so that's out). I am a student so I am looking for a place not too expensive. Thanks in advance for the help!
Location suggestion for trip from Tallahassee, FL to Beaufort, NC?

Savannah is a beautiful spot to stop, but the Georgia Islands, St.Simons, Cumberland, Jeckyll, etc are also lovely. What are your interests?
I'm looking to do some strolling, a bit of sightseeing, and a bit of eating. Nothing too strenuous!
I think you would like the Georgia Islands. Another thought is the very charming small town of Beaufort, SC...a completely different sort of town than Beaufort, NC. I love them both.
