Little Italy

I love Italian neighborhoods. They have a great feel with all the bakeries, cafes and grocers. Not to mention the food which ranges from hole in the walls to trattorias. Where is the best italian neighborhood in North America.

I love our "Little Italy" in San Diego..it is on the fringe of downtown and it has wonderful Italian Deli's, bakeries and fantastic restauants.
When Italy was in the final World Cup, they blocked off many streets/blocks and had a huge widescreen TV for the thousands of patrons..great vibe and everyone was such happy campers because of it..
I love Italian neigborhoods..you can't go wrong.

Of all of the ones I've been to (and I go them in every city I visit that has one) I like Philadelphia's. Best pepperoni and grated cheeses ever; I have one place I go to for those and I can see and smell the place now. Great meat, cheese, antipasti, and kitchenware places, and a few restaurants. And when you get tired of that, you walk two blocks down to Pat's for a famous cheesesteak.

The Arthur Avenue area of the Bronx is the best. Period.

(Okay, that's just my opinion, but it's by far the best I've visited.)

Enjoy!

TahitiTams, extremely useful information there. I'll be in the USA, San Diego in a few weeks and that website is great, thanks.

I was there in spring 2005 and all I knew of Little Italy was when the public transport bus drove through or on the edge of Little Italy en route back to Old Town and I thought how interesting it looks. Wish I had done my homework better and found it then, however, this time around, I'll be there.
