Lighting the Tree at Rockefeller Centre

We know it's happening on Wednesday Nov 30th this year but does anyone know the timing of the actual 'lighting'?...and what time we should be there to watch?

It's always a big foo faw on tv. I beleive the show runs from 7 to 8 pm but won't guarantee. The crowed are enormous and to be anywhere you need to be there at least 5 or 6 hours in advance. (And then you won;t seemost of the performers - since a lot in down in the skating rink area.)

If you really want to watch, you'll have to arrive no later than 2 in the afternoon and be willing to stand (without any access to restroom facilities) until around 7 or 8.

Better pack the 'Attends' I guess...didn't expect to have to be there sooooo early. Maybe we'll go after instead....say 10ish. Good idea?

Much better idea. Then you wi be able to get close enought to see something. This event attracts hundreds of thousands every year (and the people in Rock Center buildings that have windows overlooking are very popular). Watch the show on TV (pop singers, a couple of choirs, ice skaters, rockettes and assorted semi-famous - but mildly entertaining) then go look at the real thing later.

Actually, midnight-ish might be more like it. You won't have access to the site until they clear out all the stages and stuff. That takes a few hours. Plus, there are the crowds. You won't be allowed to enter the area until long after 10.
