L.I. restaurant

We are sending my parents to see The Irish Tenors in Westbury in March. We want to find a nice restaurant to send them to for dinner prior to. They will be staying in Rockville Centre. Any ideas? Steaks, typical Irish American?

I've been out of NY for 5 years now, but Rockville Center wasn't the greatest place; perhaps that's changed? Are they staying in a hotel or at someone's house?

http://www.innatgreatneck.com/ Looks really nice, is 25 minutes from Westbury and has what appears to be a nice restuarant right in hotel.

Hope this helps...

George Martin at 65 North Park Avenue used to be a favorite of our family. It is close to the train station. You need to reserve as it gets crowded.

George Martin owns several restaurants in the area. Grillfire is a newer one in Rockville Center http://www.georgemartingroup.com/maxs/maxHome.htm

If you want something closer to Westbury, there's a Ruth's Chris steakhouse (part of a national chain but usually good) in Garden City which is on the way from Rockville Center.

If you are going to be in the Westbury area, I highly recommend Guilio Cesare. It's an old Italian restaurant that has been a Long Island mainstay for a long time and a favorite among many of Long Island's famous residents.

McLaurie and Msull:

To clarify, as I stated above, restaurant I am referring to is named Geroge Martin and is located at 65 North Park Avenue; it is very good and very popular.

Thanks for the feedback, actually, we are originally from RVC, and they will be staying with friends. Because it has been some time since they have been back, I am sure the restaurant scene has changed. Any additional recommendations are appreciated.

If they want to take a shot at Italian, there is both Dario and Dodici - they will not be disappointed with either one, and I'm sure that they can get steak there. George Martin is touch and go with the food, and expensive. For steak a good choice would be Jimmy Hay's in Island Park (not far) from where they are.
