Lewes, DE restaurant choice?

Any restaurants where the fish is terrifically fresh? One other time we were in Lewes, we had dinner at the Buttery and thought it was mediocre at best. Would prefer not to have to haul to Rohobeth to get great food, but would rather do than eat mediocre again. Thanks for help!

La Rosa Negra has had excellent reviews for several years including 1 I read a couple months ago (in a newspaper 90 minutes from there)

I was just in Lewes and don't have any knowledge of good fish places but I do know that La Rosa Negra looks dumpy from the outside. I am sure it isn't but I saw it from the roadside a couple of times and remember it looking very plain. Maybe inside is great and the food is too but the outside doesn't appeal.

I usually eat in Rehoboth, so haven't been to Lewes this season. Over that last couple of years I have enjoyed fish at Striper Bites in town Lewes and Fish On in the Five Points shopping center. I'd give the edge food wise to Fish On.

IMHO the best seafood around is at the Cultured Pearl in Rehoboth, especially if you are a sushi lover -the kitchen entrees are excellent too though. The food is always great, but on weekends the serivce can suffer.

La Rosa Negra is good. I know the owners of Striper Bites, and they use the freshest fish available.

Thanks, everyone. We wound up staying in Rehoboth and had dinner at the pleasant (tho certainly not memorable) Dos Locos; were in the mood for Mexican. Would love to try Cultured Pearl next time. What are the best non-sushi restaurants in Rehoboth, by the way? Great fresh fish, simply prepared.
Thanks!

Big Fish Grill on Route 1 in Rehoboth is consistently good for straight forward fish dishes. It can have very long waits to get in though, because its so popular and doesn't take reservation. It's sister restaurant in town, the Summer House is good as well, but has fewer fish selections. Jakes Seafood and the Stoney Lonen also are good as well for basic seafood. For crabs, I like Lazy Susan's on Route 1. Confucius, the best chinese in Delaware, has a great sizzling salmon in black bean sauce with broccoli.

For higher end fine dining, with more limited fish selections Blue Moon, Espuma, Nage, and the Back Porch are all great choices. The scallops at Zebra are pretty amazing too.

For lunch I like Cafe Sole for sit down. For take away, Lori's Cafe has the best chicken salad - with blue cheese, apples and almonds.

Next time, for mexican-inspired try Mariachi on Wilmington Ave. They do other interesting latin food in addition to Mexican favorites. I think the owners are Columbian.

Rehoboth really has a lot of great restuarants! I'm looking forward to trying out some new ones along with some old favorites next week, when I'll have a whole week in town.
