Fodor's recently chatted with Anthony Bourdain, as a part of our Top Chefs feature, on the merits of his hometown, New York City.
It's here:

He mentions Momofuku Saam Bar as one of his favorites. I actually dined there a few weeks ago and partook of their famous pork butt dish that he recommends. It was as I expected---delicious and messy. Definitely a worthy group outing---with reservations.
He did have a midtown recommendation that I want to check out-- Yakitori Totto on 55th.

Tony is a great guy and my neighbor! He recently returned from Uruguay and his London show will be airing soon.
I completely agree about Momofuku Ssam bar. I've done the Bo Ssam pig-out twice and it has been fantastic both times. The small dishes are also great - brussel sprouts, mushrooms, hamachi. And we often go for lunch, which is less zany, but the ssams are an incredibly satisfying meal.
I'm not sure I agree about Per Se and Masa. He must not have been paying for his meals there (the cost basically makes you feel like you've walked over hot coals!).
