TAlk aboat waiting until the last minute! We flying into Hartford tomorrow (get in about 2), I'm taking my husband to see Mark Twain's house, then we're heading to our hotel in Cromwell to drop off stuff, and down to our son's school in East Haddam for a Parents' Weekend reception. We will need either a late lunch (my pick - convenient to/onn the way to/or the way from Mark Twain's house) or a snack and a late dinner. Any ideas for interesting (foreign or regional - not sandwiches or steak and potatoes), not too expensive restaurants - seafood would be good. Thanks -
Leaving tomorrow -Hartford area restaurant help!

try this.
Well, that deli serves sandwiches (which adeewebstre specifically does not want) and is not conveniently located near Hartford/Cromwell. Vernon is 20-30 minutes east of Hartford, and Cromwell is 20-30 minutes south.
I haven't lived in the area for several years now, but remember hearing good things about Black-Eyed Sally's and No Fish Today - both right in Hartford. Maybe check tripadvisor or citysearch for reviews of them, or do a google search to see if you can find menus, reviews, etc.
That was fast work - thanks very much - I'll see what I can find out!
I just spent a month in Hartford last week!
Ditto Black Eyed Sally's and No Fish.
Good catfish at Sally's. Has good rock n roll/blues from Weds thru Sun but you don't want that...
Pig's Eye is a pretty good bar located right above Sally's. Shoot some pool. Outdoor seating.
Loved Agave.
Very good Mexican.
Habanero Pork tacos!!
And guacomole freshly made and stone ground right at your table by a very pretty senorita!
Stays open later than most restaurants in Hartford.
Hartford Steam too.
Coaches had good sports bar food.
The Hilton actually had a decent restaurant, Mort and Mings.
The Pour House and The Brickyard are nice bars.
But it sure is great to be back in Calif!!!
Now off to Chicago tomorrow!!
Tapas on Ann St. has great food. Wonderful soups and a great greek salad. Would eat there over anywhere else in Hartford. Would be good for a snack. It's a hole in the wall, but the lines at lunchtime tell you something.
Is Sweet Tomatoes still there? I remember that being pretty tasty.
