Leaving in 3 hours- Any secret to driving DC to Boston?

I just returned from a jammed grocery store at 7am and began to wonder if a frequent driver may have have some tips for this route on the holiday weekend. Thanks. Threehearts

Since there is no "secret" route that no one knows about, here are my tips: I hope you got plenty of snacks & caffeine at the store! Also, load up the car with CDs, a comfy pillow for your back, and a wireless headset for your phone. Enjoy 95N, and just be in the frame of mind to enjoy a long drive. I'll see you all on the roads at 5pm tonight!! Safe driving everyone!!!

go to the oak tree, make a left. Then go about 1.4 miles, make a right. Look for the white picket fence, make another left. Go about 200 miles to the yellow house, and make a right.

My secret strategy is: leave the car at home, and take Amtrak.

almesq- We got to the yellow house but no one was home. Some Thanksgiving!! Thanks for the tips and we are home tonight, safe and sound but saw many more accidents this year than in years past. We got off the NJ Tpk. and took side roads part of the way which helped. AMTRAK may be the way to go next year but we did have the VCR for the car and plenty of snacks which was good since the roadside stops were jammed. Hope you all survived. Threehearts

Just be very alert in Boston. Roads wind and twist and seem to change names often. Its easy to get lost.
