Leaving for New orleans tommorow..any advice?
Our anniversary trip to NO tommorow. We love the city, but haven't been there for some years. I have gotten some advice from this board...I am grateful. anything I should know last minute? We plan for sure...the D Day museaum, Galatoires for our actual anniversary on Sunday...rides on the street cars...walking..etc...what must I not miss?

Aside from the obvious strolling in the FQ, I'd suggest you visit the big aquarium on the river in the River Walk area. Also the old Jax brewery for some funky shopping. Also for some art, try the New Orleans Museum of Art in the City Park. Antique browsing on Royal Street or Magazine Street. A ride on the Canal Street ferry across the river and back, just for the fun of it. Have fun and congratulations.

On our recent trip to New Orleans, I took the kids (using the free ferry across the Mississippi) to Blayne's (sp?) Mardi Gras World. It was fun and interesting for all of us. If you really like jazz, there's a jazz exhibit at the Old Mint (part of Louisiana State Museum). Have a great time!

I loved our swamp tour and found the plantation tour interesting. Perhaps it is just me, but I wasn't that impressed with the aquarium. The D Day museum is very moving and was a highlight. Also, we really enjoyed seeing the Preservation Hall Jazz Band even though we weren't big jazz fans (it's growing on us!)

Just a word of warning that Preservation Hall, wonderful as it is, will be very hot. It was hot when we were there in June a few years back. And we were lucky enough to be there during fairly mild weather.
