LAX Time Between Terminals
I will be arriving at United's Terminal 7 and need to get to the International Terminal. This map that I found (http://www.laxishappening.com/assets...raffic-Map.pdf ) makes it look like a 30 minute walk. Is that correct?
On my outbound flight to NZ I have a 4 hour layover and plan to spend it at the United Club, Terminal 7, but wonder how much time to allow to get to International.
On the return it's a 2 1/2 hour layover but will have to go through customs. etc.
I've also read about having to go outside. It isn't possible to stay inside security?

There is a shuttle bus that circles the terminals. I would not walk from T-7 to T-3/Tom Bradley. (I regularly walk between T-4 and TB. Unless you have pre-check and or priority I would not dawdle since security at Tom Bradley can be awful sometimes. You don't need 4 hours so yes, you could spend some time in the Lounge, but not hours.

LAX is like JFK, a series of individual terminals with their own security checkpoints, so you always have to go outside when moving between termianls. While you can walk between terminals, the buses help, and I'd recommend them. I've walked between T3 and Tom Bradley, and it's a pretty easy walk, but T7 is definitely further. If the weather is nice, it could be ok, however. But security can have long times at some times of the day.

Yes it is possible, ever since the T4-TBIT connector opened last year. It saves a lot of time by not having to go through security. It involves some zigzagging and level-changing, but it's easy enough. http://www.laxishappening.com/assets...Tunnel-Map.pdf

But that only connects T-4 (which is right next door). The OP is flying United.
The other airside connectors, T8 - T4, have been in service for some time. T4 - TBIT was the missing link. See the map I posted.

So I see I was certainly wrong about no airside connectors. I didn't realize that final bit was open. Does that really save time? Given the long walks through so many terminals, I think it may still be advantageous to do the shuttle bus all the way from T7 to TB even though you have to go through security again.

We did the indoor connector thing in November coming back from Mexico. Lots of walking, taking a shuttle etc. Luckily, we got in front of several large flights arriving from Asia, otherwise, it was packed in passport control. Plus they do the photo I d kiosk. Uck! I looked like a hag. I hope I don't look that bad IRL.
Thank goodness we had 2 1/2 hour layover. Any less would be cutting it close.

You be the judge.

Jeeze -- I didn't even know that and I use LAX a lot. But almost exclusively AA's main and remote terminals, TB and Southwest.
But it would be a long walk so going landside and taking the shuttle might be faster -- especially if one has priority/PreCheck. W/o PreCheck. then yes -- staying airside could be an advantage.
The 3 or 4 times I've used the TB/T-4 tunnel it almost seemed to take longer than walking outside via the sidewalk.

Wow! This is confusing. Guess I'll appreciate EWR more now.
So am I correct that my options are:
1. Go outside of Terminal 7 and wait up to 15 minutes for a shuttle bus to TBIT and then go through security again.
2. It's possible to do about a 30 minute inside walk from Terminal 7 to TBIT and avoid security. Are there moving walkways on this trek?
Without Global Entry, is the 2 1/2 hour connection to Terminal 7 really tight? My traveling companion has a 2 hour connection to Delta.
With so many people getting Global Entry, do those lines back up?

Yes. Certainly from t4 to the Brad.

No. LAX has simplified its arrival procedures, as have most US airports, so the suck factor is far less. We had a 45 minute reentry recently, including picking up our luggage, and easily met our 3.5 hour connection. That was for four people - me, wife, spawn 1, spawn 2.
I also made it through customs so fast once that I wished I could stay in the Brad (this is before the connector between t4-TBIT) because its food options were better than t4. And no, I don't have global entry.

You'd have to be a slow walker to need 30 minutes to get from Terminal 7 to Bradley Terminal on the regular sidewalk. Google says it's less than one mile and should take about 15 minutes. In theory, the shuttle should take about 10 minutes between the two points (once you've been picked up), but the $14 billion airport renovation project is impacting traffic with rotating lane closures, etc. Early morning and midday are the busiest traffic times.
Be aware that United has its own renovation project going on. Most of what they're doing impacts passengers arriving by car, checking in for flights, etc., but they are also working on one of the baggage claim areas.

I agree that the simplest and fastest (for folks who are good walkers) will be to get out of T7, turn left and simply walk to the Bradley International (Terminal B or TBIT or whatever you care to call it...).
The distance is (roughly) 3,000 ft = 1000 yards = 900 meters.
@Dukey1 - Bradley is not T1, it is non-numbered at the top of the asymmetrical horseshoe of terminals where T1-3 form one side and T4-8 the other side.
