Late touchdown in Newark - safe to take Airtrain/NJTransit?

I'll be flying into Newark from Boston next Thur, and will touchdown after 10.30pm.

Will it be safe for me to take the Airtrain-NJTransit to New York Penn station at that late hour?

Or should i just take the door-to-door SuperShuttle service? I'll be staying at YMCA West Side, btw...

Any suggestion and recommendation most appreciated...Thanks...!

You should be fine. It doesn't make sense to take the SuperShuttle to the YMCA since you are likely staying at the Y to save money. If you are comfortable staying at the Y, you should be comfortable with the trains at that time of night.

Both Airtrain and NJ Transit are extremely safe. There are multiple conductors patrolling the trains, and they are very well maintained and safe at any time of day.

Thanks, guys, for the assurance. Will stick with the Airtrain-NJTransit then.

Cheers!

I should clarify - airtrain doesn't have conductors, it is an automated tram. It makes stops at all the terminals and parking garages (depending on where you get on) and there are attendants at each stop.

I will be coming in to Newark as well, my situation is I need to fly out on a Wed moring, 7:15 Delta flight. I plan on doing the Penn station, then subway to hotel on the way there. When should I arive at Penn in the morning to catch my 7:15 flight to go back to Newark? Thanks

Arthistory - How much time you need to be airport depends on whether you can do online check-in and whether you have luggage to check. If you have your BP printed and no check luggage, you can get to the airport as late as, say, 30 minutes before your flight. If you have no BP and have luggage, then at least an hour to be safe.

The first train out of NY Penn to Newark Airport is at 4:20, arriving 4:45. That'll bring you to the terminal at around 5am. So, that's maybe a little too early. There are subsequent trains at 4:44, 4:54, 5:21, 5:41, 6:01 - which would probably the very latest your can get on your flight, even if you have your BP and no luggage to check.
