Late night eating in Kauai

Landing in Lihue past 8:00 pm. Any good dining places around that will be open at that time.

In nearby Kapaa, you should be able to find some places. I would imagine that Olympic Cafe should be open later. Even if you are not staying in Kapaa, you should be able to get there fairly quickly from the airport.

In Poipu. A deli or sandwich place is good enough. Looking for quick eats.

If you're renting and not Hyatt or Sheraton bound, we would likely just stop at Safeway in Lihue which is open 24 hours for provisions for that night and the morning. It would be an easy stop and not take you out of the way of your final destination.

Or if you are arriving on a Friday or Saturday, Dukes has music until 10:30 to put you in the tropical mood with some tiki torches, and adult beverage and some pupus.

Duke's at the Marriott in Lihue would be open and it only a two mile drive from the airport. You could either eat upstairs or at the more informal downstairs Barefoot Bar.

Kapaa is a long drive and far out of your way if you are headed in the other direction, toward Poipu. There are lots of food options in Koloa and Poipu, but it will depend on just how late you get there.

In Koloa, there are two grocery stores, one of which is Sueoka's which has very popular food from their window outside the store. Even closer to Poipu is the Living Foods Market, though I'm not sure how late it is open. Plenty of restaurants in the immediate Poipu area will be open.

I did a bit of Googling for you. The Big Save in Koloa is open until 11 pm. Living Foods will be closed as will Sueoka's in Koloa.

Lots of restaurants will be open in the Poipu/Koloa area:

In the Poipu Shopping Center, look at Keoki's Paradise which closes at 9:30, but the Bamboo cafe and bar is open until 11:30.

In the Shops at Kukuiula, Savage Shrimp is open until 9, Merriman's Gourmet Pizza and Burgers (downstairs from the excellent Merman's Restaurant) is open until 10. Tortilla Republic closes at 9.

If it was me - and it isn't - I'd drive to the Poipu area rather than stopping in Lihue.

Enjoy!

We take off early tomorrow morning for a month on Kauai. We always stay on Poipu Beach.

Hamura's! We hit it after we land every time. It will still be open, it is an easy drive from the airport, and it is not out of your way regardless of where you are going.
