Late night arrival- which Dallas-Ft Worth Airport Hotel??

Hi - I am traveling alone & am arriving at the Dallas-Ft Worth airport at midnight. After getting rental car etc it will probably be 1 AM & I am thinking it would be easiest to just stay by the airport for the first night. Any recommendations?

If I am staying by the airport overnight, do you think I should rent a car when I arrive at midnight or wait until the next morning?

Thanks!

Booking.com Fairfield Inn shuttle free nice 5 minutes from DFW

$69 works great for me personally always wait till AM to rent car.

Headed there next week for the Trader Expo

Got the Galleria Crowne Plaza Otel.com $59 plus 5% cash back 10%DC

Great deal a little farther away if you want to shop around but Fairfield

Is nice easy and close.

Happy Travels,

I like the Grand Hyatt DFW right on the premises by Terminal D. If you do that, I'd definitely wait to get your rental car until the next morning.

qwovadis mentioned a Fairfield Inn. There are two Fairfield Inns near the airport, one in Irving and one in Grapevine. Neither has a shuttle that runs at 1AM.

The only hotels that I am aware of near the airport with 24 hour shuttle service are the Marriott DFW Airport NORTH, the Embassy Suites in Grapevine, the Hilton Garden Inn in Grapevine, and the Homewood Suites in Irving (NOT the one in Grapevine). None of the other Marriott chain brands in the area have 24 hour shuttle service, or the two La Quinta Inns.

The Grand Hyatt is well-liked. It seems like that would be the most convenient for your situation.

Forgot to mention that Hertz has a desk at the Marriott DFW Airport North, but you must pre-arrange to have the car dropped off there. That might be another convenient option for you.

Here's another vote for the Grand Hyatt - located right in Terminal D and easily accessible from all other terminals either by the AirTram (inside the secure area) or by the airports shuttle bus system. We've stayed there numerous times (at least 3 or 4 times each year) and have always been pleased.

I use Priceline when I have to overnight at DFW. In April I got Grand Hyatt for US$70.00. Lovely hotel, great price.

I like using Priceline for airport hotels, check out biddingfortravel.com to see a list of possible hotels.

We recently covered the hotel options around DFW in this thread: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...rt-lodging.cfm

Please check it out; there are some good comments there.

Sounds like you are not familiar with DFW. I recommend staying on site and lowering your stress level rather than trying to get a car and find your way to a hotel at that time.

P.S. regarding when to pick up the car: from the terminals, you have to go downstairs and catch a bus to the remote rental car center (south side of DFW property). Wait until the morning to make that trip.

I agree that the Grand Hyatt, or even the older Hyatt Regency in terminal C would work well for you. It will be worth the extra $ to not have to mess with the car until morning. Get the car in the morning and get some sleep!
