Last Minute NYC tips??
OK this is my 6th trip to the city - it obviously has my heart. I've been in so many various combos - on my own as a college grad looking for work, with my mom, with my husband, with my husband and kids... this time with my lifelong best friend that lives in another state. Very excited!
We have a few things planned and have left some open time for fun wandering, but checking to see if there is anything that stands out - maybe something new, or less well-known. We've both done all the usual stuff. Absolute standouts for me in the past: Greenwich Village food and culture tour, Tenement Museum, Hi Line stroll (in case that helps - ie. - don't send me shopping on 5th Avenue, I'd die of boredom).
Here's what we have planned:
arrive Fri PM; dinner at Rosemary's
Sat AM: Soul Cycle (she's a fanatic about going in every city, will be a new experience for me)
Sat PM: 2-5 Ray's walking and food tour of Brooklyn; 7:30-9 PM Haunted Manhattan walking tour in West Village
Sun is open until 7PM Wicked; dinner at 9:30 at Basso 56
Mon she made brunch reservations - I think Sarabeth's, then we both fly out
Obviously Saturday we will be physically pooped but we are both fitness buffs so we should be OK. Will there be a big issue getting from Brooklyn at 5 to WV at 7:30? Should be OK right?
Any suggestions for Sunday?

15 minute train ride on the 2, with a transfer to the 1 at chambers. Or 15 minute train ride on the A and get off at W 4th.
You're tour is unlikely to go to the depths of Sheepshead Bay - it's probably going to concentrate on the Heights and DUMBO and maybe reach Atlantic Avenue, no?

This is how it is described. I have never been to Brooklyn so I'm excited to experience something new. I'm not sure if this helps you understand where it goes - are there things you would recommend us look into while we're close by?
***************
Leaving the Heights, we will descend into the post-industrial neighborhood of DUMBO, nestled around the great stone anchorages of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Here we will see how the factories and warehouses of centuries past have been repurposed into chic residential, arts and tech spaces. And along the way we will keep the palate pleased, sampling classic treat after treat: from New York bagels, to brick-oven pizza to hand-dipped gourmet chocolate. There’s no better introduction to Brooklyn than this!

You should be fine time-wise. Do you know about the MTA weekender site? There are usually all sorts of service changes on the weekends so I'd check that before venturing to the subway station.

That sounds like a good tour. Lots of pretty stuff over there.
Tell us more about what you like and we can help you come up with a Sunday plan. If you want to see more of Brooklyn, you could head to Brighton Beach and Coney Island, but you shold leave at least an hour to get up to Times Square for your show.
We love Governors Island. Have you been there? It's also a bit of a production to get to, though.

Classes (fitness or otherwise) are a great way to see the city and get into some local neighborhoods. There are plenty of physical activities on here, but also cooking classes, paint and sip classes, etc. https://coursehorse.com/nyc

You don't say when this is happening but assuming it's soon, you might want to consider soemthing on the water. Sail-ny.com does a nice early-ish Sunday brunch cruise on the yacht Manhattan. For something more physical, there's kayaking on the Hudson.

Or splash out on the Media Boat Tour

I hope you're planning to checkout Smorgasburg if you are doing a food walking tour in Brooklyn on Saturday. It's in Williamsburg on Saturdays and Prospect Park on Sunday. Def checkout the Brooklyn Flea market too! Also this Saturday Sept 24th is Museum Day Live! you get free admission to any of the listed museums. Download a voucher from the Smithsonian museum to receive two free tickets to one of more than 20 New York City museums and cultural centers.

It will take about 15 minutes to walk up to Basso 56 from Wicked. There are three decent restaurants within less than 5 minutes of the theater: Azalea, which is steps from the exit; Thalia, which is on the corner of 50th Street and 8th Avenue; and Toloache, which is just beyond the breezeway exit from the theater. You might be a little late, but you'd be able to get to any of those three rather quickly. NYC restaurants generally allow a grace period of 15 minutes; thereafter, you may lose your table, so keep that in mind. (That's less likely at 9:30 than at 8:30, but the theater district stays busy late ... though Basso 56 not so much.)

Basso56 is one of my favorites and I found it very close to the theater where we saw Jersey Boys. Could you perhaps go for a 5:30 dinner?? Basso also has their BarBasso just down 56th on the opposite side. A very nice wine bar with small plates/cheese platters etc.....
Have a great trip!! I will be there in a couple of weeks but sadly teenagers have their own idea about where to have dinner.

Hi all! We went on 9/16 and I haven't checked back here until now. Thank you all for taking the time to reply to my last minute questions! I posted a trip report.
Suz49 - we first found basso56 when we saw jersey boys last year. Loved it! Abram was right - Sure wish we had either made the earlier 5:30 res or gone to one of Doug stallings suggestions instead. We pushed the res to 9:45 and still had to hightail it out of the theater to make it. I was starving and didn't enjoy the end of the show bc I was preoccupied thinking of my risotto. So sad! We did make it but barely.
