Last minute Maine/New Hampshire trip
So we couldn't find any place in Mount desert island for next week (still giving it a chance, waiting for some people to return to me, but I know it's a small chance).
So, we are trying to find another route, and since we have never visited the area, we'd appreciate your help:
we are traveling from Montreal by car, a family with 3 active, fearless children.
we thought to start with 2 days near Kennebec river for rafting (to answer to my kids adrenaline passion) - do you know if the family route is hectic enough or is it too slow? are there any other rafting places which are more recommended?
than we wanted to travel to Acadia park for a week - we like hiking, biking, sailing, canooing and all active sports.
than to continue to the white mountains for 3-4 days and head home.
Since we couldn't find a place near acadia, we are puting on hold all the other plans, and this is where we need your assistance,
we are looking for places which have outdoor activities, preferably near a lake or the ocean with water sports/ activities
any other places which answer to these and aren't too long drive are highly appreciated
thank you!!

It is not clear what rafting outfit you are asking about...how old are the children?
The problem is that Maine is very popular at this time of year and most any place that we recommend will probably not be available on such short notice. Lakeside cabins and Oceanside cottages are often booked a year in advance.
I see that Kimball Terrace Inn in Northeast Harbor has a room for 5 available for some weeknights...so you might be able to get creative, stay here for your Acadia nights and then find something else for the weekend nights, though that might mean staying somewhere inland such as Brunswick or Augusta-Waterville or Sugarloaf, and then making 25 min drives to the nearby lakes for your activities.
If you find anything with availability you can certainly come back here and ask questions about the area and the activities.

Wherever you choose, you should probably check water conditions. River levels in NH are quite low and I expect they are in Maine, too, because of so little rain this summer and so little snow last winter.
There are several places in NH's White Mountains and Lakes Region that do zip lining. That might be an alternative.

Some rivers that have a dam do scheduled water releases that the rafting companies take advantage of. Don't know how that is effected by low water behind the dam. Off the top of my head, I think the Kennebec is one of those rivers.
