Last minute Keys Trip Advice Please

Hi all,

We decided to take a last minute trip to the Florida Keys since my 8 year old son will be off from school for the holidays. I realize we are limited with our options due to our last minute planning, but I'm looking for advice from anyone willing to help.

We are looking at 12/17-12/22 and have narrowed it down to these places.
It's just my husband, myself & our 8 year old son.
Our search criteria usually consists of:
-a place with other kids for him to play with - without being too crazy busy
-a place with a kids club, activities or kids night out
-beach and pool
-a few bars & restaurants close by so we can enjoy drinks/food while using said kids club

A lot of places are booked, but this is what we have narrowed it down to in our quick last minute search.

-Hawk's Cay: (pros: kids club, multiple pools, lagoon)
(cons: too crowded?, farther away from other restaurants/bars?)

-West Key Westin: (pros: good proximity to other things)
(cons: cruise ships block views?, no beach, small pool, no kids club)

-Tranquility Bay: (pros: beach, pools)
(cons: no kids club)

I've been looking at reviews & forums but just looking for some more advice. We are open to location & hoping that it's not crazy busy during that time but maybe I'm just wishful thinking?

Any feedback, suggestions, that anyone wants to share would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance : )

I will say this for now: no cruise ship is going to be blocking any views forever. Used to be, and I assume still is, that ships docked at Mallory were required to be gone prior to sunset; ships docked at the outer mole could, of course, stay longer.

Pool AND beach is not the usual in KW which has been, for the most part, a "lie around the pool" kind of place.

And as to those cruise ships: "Old Town" and lower Duval will be BUSY whenever any ship is docked.

I don't think there will be very many kids in the Kid's Clubs since many schools will still be in session through the 23rd.

The keys are not the typical "kids club" resorts... that said, there is a butterfly conservatory, dolphin attraction, fishing and snorkel boat tours, sunset sails, pirate treasure museum, feed the fishies, conch train, Hemingway tour (six toe cats), chickens at blue heaven, Caribbean town, as well as the pools... there's also tortugas tours of the fort, and funky shops and restaurants....

You just have to take the kid to the attractions...
