Jubilee's finale is spectacular--a stage packed with showgirls. However, after thirty years the show is very dated, and the recorded music (and sometimes voices) doesn't add to the glamor.

Check what's playing the days you will be in Las Vegas. Sometimes comedians appear there for only a few days. We saw (hilarious) Robert Schimmel at NY NY a few years ago when he played there for a few days.

Barry Manilow is at Paris.

Mac King has a funny afternoon show at Harrah's.

Thanks for the info. That is what I was worried about with Jubilee - it just being too old & dated.

However, if you've seen a lot of Broadway shows, Celine Dione, etc. I suspect you will find Jubilee to be an eye-rolling experience. It struck me as the kind of show you'd expect to see on a cruise ship but with a lot more performers, sets, and costumes and no live musicians.

I found this thread when searching for shows.

We saw Jubilee and thought it was good. Defnitely old school but at the time DH was looking for something like that. Now we're looking for something similar, a variety type show and we don't mind a little nudity!

What can you experts recommend? This if for couples in mid 40s. Thanks.

Viva Elvis is DEFINITELY worth seeing and am sure you will enjoy it.

How about one of the other Cirque shows like "Love?"

I like the Cirque shows LOVE, Mystere, and O, all of which are still going strong.

I personally would not recommend Blue Man Group unless you have kids, but some adults claim to enjoy it. It's a lot of banging and pretend vomiting, and wildly overpriced imho.

The new show Absinthe at Caesars Palace is for "adults only" and has been getting pretty good reviews. It's a vaudeville - burlesque show but with acrobatic acts similar to CDS. If you're looking for something "adult" that isn't Jubilee, I would totally check that out. I think it has some minor nudity, pasties and stuff, and the humor is "racy" and burlesque-y. The NY Times called it Cirque du Soleil crossed with Rocky Horror.

I 2nd the Mac King show at Harrah's. There is usually someone in the outside bar area passing out free tickets for the show, but they actually cost about $10 which gets you a cocktail.

I think Jubilee is worth seeing, just because it is typical of the old school Vegas shows. We especially enjoyed the Argentinean Gouchos.

We've seen so many CDS shows that we opted to see Le Reve at the Wynn. It was fabulous. However, there is a running debate on this site as to whether "O" or Le Reve is superior. I think the general concensus is that they are both very good and you wouldn't go wrong with either one. For us, part of the decision came down to the ticket prices. I was able to get $30 off the Le Reve tickets at Travelzoo.

We also really enjoyed the Freemont Street Experience and it's FREE!

Thanks for the updated info. I think I'll forget Blue Man group. Since we are seeing the CDS Elvis, I wanted to see something different the next night, that's why I thought about Jubilee. I'm going to check out Amazing Jonathan and Absinthe. Anyone seen a good comedian?

travelinjo: Just to be clear, that isn't a personal recommendation for Absinthe. I haven't seen it yet, it just opened a couple of weeks ago. But the reviews I've seen have been mostly good and it does sound interesting if you're looking something a little different.

I saw Ka and Jersey Boys, both I enjoyed for very different reasons. The star of the former is the stage technology, the latter, the music.

I've seen many shows: comedies like Chris Tucker, musical shows like Beatles Love Show, and Circus Du Soleil shows like Ka, Le Reve and Zumanity. So far, I've enjoyed all of those shows! Very exciting, yet a bit pricey, but definitely worth the Las Vegas experience.

Aside from that, on a budget perspective, I've enjoyed some of the other more affordable shows. For example, I've watched Barbra and Frank. Most recently, I've watched at this small venue called The Boulevard Theater a new show called Stars In Concert which featured Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Beyonce, Elton John and Soul Brothers. Great singers, dancers, lookalikes and band in an intimate setting.
