We will be traveling in New Mexico during the month of August and have decided we want to drive on over to Las Vegas and spend three days there celebrating my husbands (belated) 60th birthday. We have stayed at Mandalay Bay, Hard Rock and The Bellagio in the past. We are thinking about Wynn, Four Seasons or Palazzo for this trip. I would love to hear from those who have visited these hotels.
We don't plan to walk the strip so location isn't really a factor. We just want a great hotel. We will probably take in a show and he enjoys playing craps. I will do a little shopping and people watching. I don't really enjoy the HUGE lobbies with many people just wandering through. And we do enjoy having a wonderful meals.
Please let me know what you think of these hotels and also your favorite restaurant recommendations.
Thank you

Four Seasons?
http://www.fourseasons.com/lasvegas/
Wynn or Encore..two of the best hotels for luxury and great deals right now at $109 a night..
We love dining at Alex, Okada and Daniel Boulud's..
Encore has great restaurants as well..
If you don't like big lobbies then you might like to stay at the Four Seasons but it is going to provide you with the same location as Mandalay Bay. You might want to go up the strip and stay at Wynn.
Would this deal affect your decision?
Wynn Las Vegas: 3rd night is free, $50 resort credit
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=1418821
Four Seasons has the same, pay for 2, stay 3 nights deal.

No resort credit needed as everything is included, free of charge. Free car service within 3 mile radius of the hotel, free use of spa and workout center, use of the Mandalay pool, wave pool, lazy river, etc.. plus few more amenities.
Four Seasons is a hotel within a hotel with it's own beautiful lobby, it's quiet, no gaming, yet the guests are very close to gaming, shows, etc.... if they want to have some outside of the room fun
A little tranquil paradise in the wild and crazy city.... beautiful property.
If you are looking for an intimate casino that still has an element of action to it, you can't beat Encore. The lobby is small and the casino floor has 4 bars that are all great for people watching. And since the casino has floor to ceiling windows, you can look out over the pool and gardens while at the bars or playing the slots! Encore is also a short walk away from the designer shopping at the Wynn and the Fashion Show Mall and is home to Botero, my favorite restaurant in the city.
TheHotel @ MB would be my choice.
Wish I could opine about the Wynn and Palazzo, both look fabulous from what I have read and seen--but I can vouch that we absolutely loved our room at the Venetian, if that's any testament to the Palazzo. Our room at the Venetian felt like an oasis in the middle of a crowded desert, spacious, comfortable and luxurious!
I've stayed at the Palazzo. If you like huge and impersonal, with the longest walk ever from the elevator to your room, then you might like it. The rooms were lovely (updated Venetian, I think), but I wouldn't stay there again.
Personally, I'd get one of the best rooms at Caesar's Palace. The newest tower is the Augustus, and its rooms are HUGE and gorgeous! You can get a room with a view of the Bellagio fountains and the Strip, too. My husband is a big craps player, and he has ALWAYS done well at Caesar's. They have many more craps tables than other casinos, and their dealers are the best!
Between all of the celebrity chef restuaurants in house at Caesar's (Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill, Bradley Ogden, Rao's and Guy Savory) and all of the choices in the Forum Shoppes (Spago, Sushi Roku, BOA Steaks, Chinois, Joe's Stone Crab, Stage Deli) there are plenty of places to eat. And, the Forum Shoppes are the best on the Strip!
I've stayed at the Bellagio, the Wynn and the newest tower at Caesar's palace (mentioned above). But the Wynn was the nicest and largest room of the three. Well, size of Wynn and Caesar's were comparable, but the Wynn room just seemed much nicer. We got it at a great price too, $109/night back in March. We had a view of the golf course out back and it is gorgeous. Made we want to learn to golf LOL!
I like the Venetian\Palazzo. Both have very nice luxury rooms. Good variety of restaurants and entertainment. Shopping around both hotels. They are connected by walkways indoors lined with restaurants and shopping and fountains. The Wynn/Encore short walk from the Palazza, also the Fashion Show Mall. I have photos of the Palazzo\Venetian on my blog:http://lasvegasfun.blogspot.com/

Thank you so very much for your thoughtful replies. I love have so much personal information when making a decision. We are seriously looking at The Palazzo. They have a very good rate with some add ons that are pretty appealing.
We have had some great meals while in Las Vegas and so I guess that is my next project.
We will be going to Bette Midlers show at Caesars and are considering Mesa Grill or Bradley Ogden for dinner. We have eaten at Bradley Ogden before and loved it but thought we might try something different. Any opinions?
What about restaurants at The Palazzo? Any favorites or some that I shouldn't even put on my maybe list?
We also ate at Alex's on our last trip and had a really wonderful meal. But we actually like to try new places instead of repeating.
Thanks for your ideas...

I like Mesa Grill and Spago next door.
Did you look at The Wynn? The Palazzo (at least to me) doesn't quite fit your criteria.
In the spirit of Orlando's post -- If you decide to stay at the Bellagio or Venetian/Palazzo, you can find money-saving promotional codes for those properties on http://www.vegaspromoguide.com ...Bellagio I think has the better deal right now with a summer promotion for $90 per night vs. the Venetian and Palazzo at $119 (but their promotion includes dining and slot credits).

We just got back from a 3-day stay at the Wynn and LOVED it. Our room was huge (to us), very clean, with very comfy beds and linens. The public areas are gorgeous...colorful, filled with fresh flowers. It is also right across the street from Fashion Show mall, which was our favorite place to shop. We walked through Encore, and it was beautiful also...loved that the casino and bars had WINDOWS that looked out on pool and garden areas, very unusual in LV.
The last 2 posters need to realize that this is a 2 year old thread. The vacation came and went.
In fact, I believe that calilaleinz's only purpose to pull up this 2 year old thread was to advertise an agency that she either owns or works for.
Ack! I usually try to notice posts like that, but this one slipped by me. Thanks, AA, and I think you're right. (now I feel silly...)
We just did a trip to Vegas and checked out a few different luxury hotels. Mandarin Oriental is probably the most luxurious (on this trip anyhow) but our suite at The Cosmopolitan was even better (but more expensive). They are both in the new City Center development. Another choice is the MGM Skylofts.
I have reviews and pictures at http://www.bombasticlife.com

If you get a chance to go to a Cirque du Soleil show, please add that to your itinerary. I've heard that Ms. Midler does a wonderful show.
Have a super time.
