Does anyone know where we can check e-mails- like a pay by the minute computer place? We will not be taking a laptop but need to check e-mails everyday or business reasons. We are staying at the Luxor. Thanks

Luxor does not provide internet service in their business center.

It has always been difficult for me to find internet access in Las Vegas as it seems as though the idea is to keep us uninformed. However, I found a few places to check your mail. The second floor of the Excalibur hotel across from the buffet has two pay by the minute terminals. The Internet Café, at the Polo Towers Plaza is probably the best place to surf the net. Some hotels allow you access at their business centers. Those that definitely do are at the Hard Rock Hotel, The MGM Grand, the Mandalay Bay and the Las Vegas Hilton.

If you were staying at the Alladin you would have a computer in your room.

Most every hotel that houses business clientele will have a business center where you can pay to use their desktop computers for internet use in 15 minute or 30 minute increments, plus an additional charge if you want to print anything. I can't recall, but I'm thinking it is something like $10-15/half hour.

Isn't it sad that in cities of the world like Paris or London, you can find internet access at rates of a dollar or two an hour, but in the US places charge you more than ten times that much? In fact, many hotels I stay at in Europe offer free internet access through a couple of their computers.

Two years ago, when I was at the Riviera, they offered a by the minute access, but it was close to a dollar a minute!

I used Bellagio's business center for internet access a couple years ago and it was $60/hr.
Aladdin has computers in each room.
Most of the large hotels offer access in their business centers these days.

If you're staying at Luxor either use the access site noted above at Excalibur, or walk across the mall overpass into Mandalay Bay and use their business center.

We used the Bellagio business center computers and it was $10- for 10 minutes. Enough to check on things back at home, but no bargain!

Patrick, most hotels that provide business centers will tell you that 90% of their patrons are not paying for any of the hotel's services out of their own pocket. So they are free to charge $20 for 10 minutes of usage or whatever they want.

And for the record, the Aladdin's in-room internet terminal (it's a terminal, not computer btw) is not free, at least it wasn't the past summer I was there. Something like $10 for 24 hour use.

The Rio has the internet on the television thing. ( that is techie talk, you know) They did not charge us for using it. But their business center also charges about $10-for 10 minutes.

I am staying at the Monte-Carlo in a few weeks and just contacted the MC business center. $7 for less than 15 minutes, $13 for 30 minutes and $25 for an hour.

THanks for all the repies - looks like we will try Excalibur and Mandalay since they are closest! I guess that is the price you pay to relax and "get away from work!"

Try the Public Library, most Public Libraries offer free internet access practically everywhere in the world.

You must be a member at some of the Libraries though

Just returned (6/7/04) from a great 5 day vacation/business trip to Las Vegas. While the spouse vacationed, I worked hard at finding a internet cafe I could use to manage my business "www.diversity.com". Forget the internet cafe at the Polo Towers. It never seemed to be open and walking to various casino's and taking cabs to check out their business centers when the temp hovered at 110 degF was not fun at all.

The business center, where we stayed in the MGM Grand, has two PC's mounted on a high shelf which requires the user to stand to use the keyboard .The rate is $0.70 cents per minute and $1.70 per printed page.It didn't take me long to figure out I could not afford to physically for 2-3 hours in a noisy room (10 X 12)nor could I afford the cost per minute.

Fortunately, I remembered once staying at a small business type hotel off the strip (when I had a real job) and remembered their rooms were average but the business center offered free unlimited broad band connection with a local printer attached in their business center. The center was located 30 feet from a great inhouse sandwich shoppe which was really cool.
I went there and the frontdesk gave me permission to use the center provided I would vacate the chair if a guest wanted to use it. I gladly agreed and spend 3 very productive hours there on two consecutive days. It worked out really well and the cafe kept me supplied with a bottomless cup of coffee.

They provide free shuttle service from/to the Airport and from/To MGM Grand. Really nice people.

Next trip to Las Vegas I will lug a laptop and connect into MGM Grand's unlimited broadband for $10.00 per day connection in your room and pray I don't need to output anything to a printer.

There is an internet cafe next to the Walgreen's (across from Monte Carlo on the strip) that charges $5 for up to 15 minutes.

That was a LOT cheaper than the $15 for 15 minutes at Caesar's business center...

When we were in Las Vegas a few months ago we drove to a Kinko's--the address is in the phone book. At one hotel there was internet access on the TV, using a keyboard provided in the room. It didn't work well. We got a refund. The cyber cafes on the Strip are a rip-off.
