Las Vegas In March

Hi,
I want to visit Las Vegas in March 08 and need some info please.
Firstly, what is the weather like that time of year, especially around the middle of March? Will any of the hotel pools be open.
Will all the shows be running normaly?
When is the American college Spring Break? Im from the Uk so have no idea, will Vegas be really crowded?
Thanks for your time everybody

March in Vegas is busy and, consequently, more expensive due to college spring breaks and the college basketball tournament (March Madness). Not sure about pools, although I wouldn't count on them being open, but shows should be normal.

march is really busy with "march madness" (basketball). i was there in march and it was unusally REALLY hot. our hotel(flamingo) let people sit around the pool but because they don't normally open it until april, we could not go in the pool cause they hadn't hired a lifegaurd. check with the individual hotels.

March Madness is the college basketball tournament - which attracts incredible crowds. March is also a bi month for organization annual conferences - for which LV is very popular - but you can check that by looking at the schedule of the convention center (Some groups are 25,000 plus).

College spring break dates vary - but LV is not a super popular spot since 1) under 21s are barred from casinos and 2) the weather is not hot yet and most pools are closed. Much more popular are FL, NO and Mexico and even the Carib - with hotter weather and many places with (unofficial) flexible drinking rules.

Thing is by March I will need a holiday, and there are cheap flights then (I live in the UK). Somehow I will find a nice hotel room, fingers crossed

Expect temperatures to be in low to mid-70's. You could be lucky and get mid-80's but equally could be mid-60's. Pools will be open if it's warm, however most hotels do not heat their pools (they rely on the sun), so the water can be cool in March.

You may want to check the convention schedule to see if any major conventions are on for the time you plan to visit.

don't go during March Madness and go during the week, and you'll be able to find good rates for hotels right on the strip.

The question of when pools are open/closed in Las Vegas comes up very frequently on this board. I really think that the only way to find out with any degree of certainty is to contact the individual hotels that are being considered.

I go every March for a cheer and dance competition - 2 years ago it SNOWED when we were there - last year the weather was lovely.

It is very busy in March - their was a big NASCAR event (how many mullets in Vegas?) rates are always higher too... do you need to go in March?

I was there this past March for a convention and the Palace Station's pool was not open. It was nice weather to be outside in jeans, but definitely not warm enough for swimming.

Late March you might get a pool open, though it varies from place to place, and if the weather changes for the cooler they may close the pool.

My husband and I stayed at the Paris Hotel in Vegas in early March of this year and the pool was not open. We were there prior to the craziness of March Madness and we went in the middle of the week. We thought the weather was lovely and the crowds were low.
