Have you seen how many towels kids that age use?

They use hotel resources like any other person, but tend to spend less money than adults (e.g., no gambling). If anything, one could make a case for charging more for children than adults.

Not on a per-room basis they don't. Yes, they use more towels and more hot water, but other than that, what -- the bed is already there, the maids have to vacuum whether it's two people or four, they don't put more doormen at the front door, or more desk clerks at the front desk due to there being children in your room. They don't wash the windows or vacuum the hall floors more often. Etc. Arguably, there should be a "service charge" for the actual things they do use, but any money spent on account of the children being there that wouldn't have been spent otherwise is incremental income to the hotel.

From having a hotel background, four guests DO use more resources than two which is why hotels charge more.

It may only take five more minutes for housekeeping to clean up after four than two, it make take longer to wash four towels than two, it may take more electricity for four than two, labor will go up and times this entire exercise by 100.

It costs a lot less to run a hotel that is full with one or two to a room than it does to run a hotel that is full with four to a room.

This goes completely through the roof during conventions and conferences.

2 people in room vs 4 people: more water used, more toiled flashes, more shampoo, more pillows, more bedding to wash, more coffee packages...

Those 2 additional people will not gamble nor drink, the families tend to drive off the strip, parents drink and gamble less when the children are there...

I didn't disagree that it costs more, I was just saying it doesn't double the cost since a lot of the labor, and the facility itself (the "mortgage" for want of a better term) do not cost more. Here's an analogy - a law firm has a library. The library is the same size and contains the same number of books whether the law firm has 30 or 100 lawyers. The law firm does have to have a bigger office space and more secretaries for more attorneys. They do NOT, though, have more receptionists. Point is, some costs go up the more people, some don't. And I disagree completely about families driving off-strip. Why stay ON the strip just to drive off? When we were there with kids, we never even got in our car, just walked all over the strip. And although those kids do not gamble or drink alcohol, they certain eat and drink soft drinks.

First of all 13 and 17 year olds are the size of adults - it's not like having an infant. Second, they use an extra bed, water, towels, soap, shampoo, TV and everything else in the room. Whyever should they be free?

If they're free it means that people without chidren are paying extra high rates - so your kids don;t get charged. No really fair is it?

Check CircusCircus or that other place that looks like a castle. It's Vegas - they get nothing out of having your kids there. In fact, since one of you should be off the gambling floor watching your kids they will be losing money.

Your analogy is like saying it doesn't cost the hotel any more money to have sofas in the lobby. It doesn't. They are fixed and the amount of people using the sofas doesn't matter except for a little more wear and tear.

I could be wrong since I don't travel with kids, but I didn't think that hotels charge double for having more than two - they may impose an additional charge but if you were paying $200 per night for two, would it be $400 per night for the addition of two more?

As for the poster, just research the hotels you are interested in then plug in the dates and the number of people and you will see if they charge more.
